More Warhammer 40K I hear the world cry. Up comes BRAWL's glorious Crozius as he stands defiant against the Ork rampage!

Retribution and Space Marine later this year... TWO whole games? TWO :D So much win right now!

But yes... I may have pre-ordered it the day it was released.

    Huh?

Grey Knights would be nice, so long as they get the balance right.

Then again, if the IG squads are only 4 men strong, I will have severe reservations about it all. 4 IG vs 4 Astartes..... yeeaaaahhhhh... ummm, no.

I haven't played Chaos Rising yet, only got it the other day as part of the DoW2 gold pack, so need to finish my new campaign and carry the squad across and see what CR is like.

Very much looking forward to Retribution.

Aye, I noticed that as well. Sorry, I was going on articles from Kotaku that it would be a THW exclusive. Hmmm, since they have it, unless my local Smyths store can order it in for me at a reasonable price, I won't have it on release. Amazon can't make release dates to Ireland and Play are just terrible in their delivery. I've had things arrive 2-3 weeks after release... despite being pre-ordered.:grr:

Depends if the IG have Las Cannons and the Astartes are chilling in the hood man - lol

Chaos Rising had IG and the squads were around 9 - 10 strong, or more well known as FODDER for Avitus and his heavy bolter AND/OR Thaddeus and his glorious Storm Hammer

Plasma Cannons all the way baby! :D

The new campaign that I am playing through, i will do as many defend missions as I have to until I get the legendary plasma cannon that is somewhere in the inventory.

At least they got the squad sizes ok for CR then, I look forward to playing it. Had another crack at Last Stand a few days ago, got to lvl17 and then massacred.

Hopefully the inquisitional forces in IG will be interesting. I would imagine that a Penitent Engine would be in there somewhere as a dreadnought substitute. An eversor would be nifty, but overkill.

With regard to Avitus and Thaddeus. I always take a plasma cannon for Avitus, unless I can get my hands on "The Neverending Hail of Destruction" (200dmg). Thaddeus is acceptable once he has enough health, he dies too easily I find so I usually take cyrus instead. The sniper rifle and demo charges are invaluable.

They did get them about right... just a shame they bunged 50000 Chaos Warriors of the Black Legion in that around 12 Blood Ravens killed, Despite the fact the Blood Ravens are a sub-chapter of the Thousand Sons! Goddamn Nasa!

Man I prefer Avitus to have a proper supression weapon, at which point Thaddeus and FC always teleport in behind and have fun with hammers!

Honestly I think the Sisters of Battle should be kept with IG forces at all times, they should be like the Librarian of Chaos Rising (play it seriously you'll understand), You'd never see the assassin though, remember they use target's... they're assassins not dreadnoughts! Stop reading Heresy books and applying them to 10000 years post-heresy :p Don't make me slap you with a powerfist damn you!

I have heard rumours our good friend Eliphas will be taking over a 14th Black Crusade in early xxx.42M mind you...

Nothing's been confirmed either way on this. The strongest link during the Horus Heresy was that there was a chapter in the Thousand Sons legion known as the Corvi Sanguini. Literally translated, 'The Ravens of Blood'. Then you have the abnormal command structure of the Blood Ravens, using Librarians as commanders, etc (which for some reason you can't do in-game. Shame). That and the insinuation through the Dawn of War games of the Black Legion using the term 'brother' in a mocking manner.

However, it also makes a fitting theme for the Blood Ravens to be stood on the thin line between loyal and traitor legions/chapters, or even perhaps renegade chapters, such as the Soul Drinkers.

I play Blood Ravens as my gaming army at Games Workshop, and have spent ages piecing together their background :) But I think this is neither the time nor place for discussion along this line :)

Well, I certainl didn#t mean that an Eversor could be the equivalent to a dreadnought. They do die to bolter fire nicely, dreadnoughts do not :D Merely a unit in the game that could be fun.

The voices for the Chaos side in the videos seem very.... aloof and posh for what they are!
Well, I'll have to play through CR before I can say anything really.

Still, at least it's 2 months before retribution is available, so I have time to sort some funding for it.

Sir you've made a friend, 40K is fantastic... me and my friend always bounce ideas about the BR's off each other, his idea was that they were Magnus's way back into the light of The Emperor, while I think they're something far darker and more sinister.

Either way, enough is implied to connect them somehow right? Even the sect within the Thousand Sons has a Black Raven with blood red background (And the rememberancer says along the lines of "I see the Raven, it needs blood of knowledge, but can't get it"... i.e. "Knowledge is power, hide is well" Hey might even be a big thing towards 2 and 11 legions! never know ;)

haha, but needless to say they are fantastic. I'm quite happy to say a Leman Russ is a Dreadnought of the IG, they're bloody strong enough!

I think the lords should be like that... Eliphas, Abadon, Bale (failed), Sindri should all have very "astartes-esque" posh voices... while Daemon Princes should definatly sound more evil. "It is a poor shepherd who blames his flock Apostle!"

Yeah it's out early March according to STEAM, I'm eyeing up those pre-order packs... cursing why the feth (brownie[s/] Emperor points for who says it) they split them all up!

I thought I read somewhere that they were bringing base, or atleast army, building back into this one...

I do enjoy these games, but I wish we could get one more like the Total War games, so massive armies... That'd be amazing.

Also isn't Dark Mellienium was coming out towards the end of the year?

Space Marine is looking good though, what GoW should be... With proper space marines and stunning graphics.

2011 is the year for 40k me feels. Although has anyone seen Ultramarine the Movie? It's ok, left me feeling a little empty though...

I believe so mate, I have heard the comments of "Build your army"... my response was "Wait what!? DOW1 just mated with DOW2?!" and thus, awesome was regained.

Tell you what, Cossacks + Warhammer40K, jesus christ that would be amazing. Something on a massive scale not just 200 Space Marines tear arsing round with Plasma cannons.

DM is out I'm sure, but lets be honest... you'll get 95% of a playerbase being Black Templars and very little else unless you know the universe.

SM looks fatnastic, Bloodshed and carnage.

The film disappointed me, for one "A CROZIOUS DOES NOT DO THAT"

The thing that bugs the crap out of me about all the games, movies and everything. You're always a blood Ultramarine, Why the feth would I want to be a goddamn Ultramarine? The pansey poster-boys of the Space Marines? Give me a Black Templar or an Imperial Fist anyday! Especially the later!

All I want is more options for The Last Stand. If they do that, I'll pay whatever price they want!

Smurf marines would make sense if it was set in the north east of the galaxy and they were just fighting against the 'Nids, but getting all of those races together...? The Orks are from the South and Chaos Eye of Terror is in the south west... Where is the galaxy is this game set...?

I think they focus on the Blood Ravens because they made them for the game, so they can build them into what they need. All the other space marine chapters have specific special units, like 'nid hunters for the Smurf marines, Landraider Crusader for the Templars, ect...

Bloody_Pete, the Crusader is no longer chapter-specific. The Blood Ravens were designed for the game so that Relic could write their own background into the chapter and not mess up the canon from Games Workshop :)

Correct me if im wrong but arnt the Ultramarines the emperor's chosen?...
There also said (again, could be wrong) to only use the best gene seed and are feared by other chapters as they can single handedly win wars where other chapters would been steam-rolled.
Link to some of there background

Seems like you know what you talking about BRAWL, can you tell me what's the deal with Alpha Legion? they have been seen in Chaos and normal SM armour, with them been very secretive the other chapters don't actually know if there traitors or not... possibly neutral? 40KWiki say's: "their continued secret loyalty to the Emperor of Mankind." hmmm

Also, i want to start reading the 40K books on SM's.. can anyone recommend some that would be good to start with?

All Adeptus Astartes are 'The Emperor's Chosen'. It's a moniker given to Space Marines, as they are above and beyond a normal human being. There are, however, things in 40k that are better than a Space Marine ;)

The Alpha Legion are confirmed traitors. They specialise in behind-the-scenes work like espionage and stealth operations. They also use confusion in their works, even to the point of noone knowing their true primarchs (Alpharius and Omegon). Even the two primarchs do not refer to themselves by a single name. Perhaps you have seen the armour types before and after the Horus Heresy.

If it's Space Marines you're after, you have a lot of options. First up is Graham McNeill's Ultramarines series of books. Straight in after that are the Space Marine Battles series and William King's Space Wolf novels.

Following on from that, you have the renegade marines, the Soul Drinkers, written by Ben Counter. Then there's the Blood Angels series by James Swallow.

If I were just starting however, I would suggest the Ultramarines series first. Graham McNeill is a well established author and puts a more serious tone on the Ultramarines rather than just making them the poster-boys of the Imperium.

Of course, you could always read the Blood Ravens series by CS Goto, but I wouldn't put that kind of torture on anyone. He truly is one of the worst writers I've ever read, personally.

I enjoyed the Ultra Marines books (I know I'm going to get flamed for that). But the Horus Heresy series is also very good.
