When you have to post here to see your join date, and then add a year or two.

I know I've been on bit-tech too long when someone who joined more than two years after me has been on Bit-tech too long.

    :eyebrow:

He has me beat a lot by posts. I've been averaging just over 1 post per day for more than eight years now. The majority of that was back a long time ago, though. I hit 2,000 posts in 2005, and just topped 3,000 in 2010.

Did anyone ever had dreams about reading unreleased reviews on BT?

It's an interesting dynamic, these forums. I don't know if anyone had any idea how big they were going to be.

There were all sorts of small dial-up BBS sites throughout the 90s. The vB forums really took off in 2000 and 2001, mostly on tech sites, but slowly expanded to other types of sites.

It's really something special, how long these sites have been around, with no signs of fading or slowing down. I wonder how long they'll go for. The 10-year mark for many forums either has arrived or is quickly approaching. Will they make it 20 years? 30 years? Longer? It's a social phenomenon that's never really existed before, the idea of an open written discussion. What makes it all so great is how much of this technology conversation has been archived. I can recall conversations that I had almost a decade ago word-for-word. It sounds silly, but there's a certain longevity to it that's fascinating. The words I'm typing right now might live on Bit-Tech for decades or even centuries. That's always been the case with professional publications like magazines and newspapers, but what makes it so awesome is that our regular conversations now have that longevity.

    Indeed it was! :D

So, if you think over 6K views is bad, I presume approaching 10K is fairly worrying? :worried:

The redesign happened about a year after the CPC forums moved here...

I recognise people by their avatar as well, so it's a little disorienting when they change it.

    Amplifies brain signal strength? :worried:
