Do you really want to be one of those guys driving an old japanese car with a turbo and a body kit?

You prefer rhd? Is lhd even an option?

Mk1 MR2 SC or bust IMO.

lhd is left hand drive and yes its an option. The car will be mostly performance and also a show car, the mr2 is by far the sexist car ever and imma look into it

wait, if you are located in USA the cars are LHD by default, arent they?

Right Hand Drive means that the steering wheel is on the right and Left hand drive means that the steering wheel is on the left.

Left hand traffic on the other hand means that you drive on the wrong side of the road (left)
and right hand traffic == cars on the right

amirite?? this thread has confused the beejeesus out of me

For our Yank friends RHD is available in what they call "import" cars. Which basically means Jap. If you wanna play Fast and Furious, that's what you get.

Personally, if I was in the US and wanted RWD and turbo, I'd buy a BMW. Or I'd wise up and get something in Quattro.

But as I've not idea what pricing is like over there, I can't really help in specific terms. I will say that I think Jap sends the wrong message, but seems the OP is set on a tuner car.

Surely in upstate NY, a Legacy Wagon AWD would be more appropriate??

I wouldn't normally do this, but......

You have a go at someone else's sentence, call yourself the resident grammar nazi and then you can't spell "definitely" in one of the most annoying (and sadly common amongst the yoof these days) mistakes ever! :thumb:

My wording was wrong, I meant to ask if RHD was even an option in the US. Didn't realize that it would be a show type car..

Definitely go for an MR2! The first gen is my dream car, I'd love to own one someday.. Second gen looks nice as well, the Ferrari influence is obvious.

    Plus, they're built by Toyota.

Why not look at American cars from that period? I'm partial to the C4 Corvette, especially the convertible. Performance isn't great, but you'll get the V8 sound and I love the looks. Cheap too.

I drive a scion tc and absolutely love it. There are a lot of aftermarket parts available if you're into that sort of thing and even though it's fwd, it's still a lot of fun to drive. I see that you require rwd, a lot of them have been converted to rwd and awd. iirc they're based on a Subaru chassis that was awd...

Why would you want to portray yourself as a jap-chav? o_O

You'd get much more fun with a Mrk2 Golf GTI or something along those lines.

Am I the only one who thinks the MR2 is utter shite? I mean, really, i've flushed things better looking.

Out of the list, I would probably choose a scooby. Comfortable, got a little umph to it. Great in the snow.

    @unicorn, typooo fixed now

i would suggest getting something like DR30 skyline or S12 silvia?

They are not as chavvy, rwd oozes of fun, Rb25 swaps are amazing.

If you are into older japanese cars (pre 1985 mainly) look at japanesenostalgiccar.com
they also have a classifieds section with parts and cars that definitely have been well looked after

Too much rice in this thread... and not enough muscle.

You live in the US. Fuel is cheap there... so why bother with a crap sounding Japanese car with half an engine. Get something with a V8 in it and stop being such a girl :)

    Pook's nailed it - if you don't buy something with a V8 you've got brain issues. :D

Does no-one like the Mk II MR2? The MKI is just a bit blocky for me.
