I bought a microSd card from some seller located in Hong Kong, who had 3k+ feedback. Turned out to be a coutnerfeit card (a 2GB card that had been hacked to display as 16GB). After I found out about it about 2 months later, I searched google again, and found that he'd been identitified as a counterfeit seller.

Some stuff is highly prone to being counterfeited (memory sticks / cards, etc) and others are not so (graphics cards, cpus, ram).

It's pretty safe to say that Flame's graphics card isn't fake, whether it originated from Asia or not!

well i dont think its fake coz GPUz and 3dmark all recognize it as a gtx 580 and the serial number was accepted by EVGA when i registered for the warranty its also giving my a 3dmark 11 score of near 6000 where my 5870 was giving me a score of 4500

that's about right. and if you can hunt down 3Dmark 1.0.0, you should be able to get over 6000 :D

1.0.1 decreased higher end scores, i also get around 5800 with my gtx580.

Yeh I suspect so. The 580's are also quite heavily overclocked, so I expect that is helping too.

Yeah i did notice in your 3Dmark score. What brand did you go for?

I just managed over 6000 with a wee overclock on the 580!

    My 580's are PNY.

One of the reasons I chose them is that they are just basically reference cards, so there are no components where there shouldn't be on the PCB. Some subvendors like to move things around a bit. This way, I didn't have to worry about waterblocks not being compatible.

I'm gonna put the core clock up a bit and see what happens.

Hmmm......They don't seem to want to go any higher than 950Mhz core. Msi Afterburner won't let me add anymore voltage to stabilize them. Shame........the temps are very low, but I guess it stops me blowing them up.

For some reason Afterburner wont give me control of the voltage... whats that all about?

You have to enable voltage control in the settings menu.

Yeah version 2.0 from MSI wouldnt let me change the voltage, but it turns out the latest beta does.

    Got it here

I'll play about with it over the weekend! See if i can squeeze out some extra 3Dmark points!

Yeh the beta version is what you need (2.2.1 or something)

With regard to overclocking the 580 on air cooling. It will quite quickly become rather hot and rather loud. Setup a custom fan profile.

Well I just got this score in Vantage, but for some reason it's not showing in the hall of fame. Physx was disabled and the score is legit. It would put me at 12th again.
