Don't wear a watch too often since I've always got my cell phone. Only time I'll take a watch is when hiking. In that case it's on the left, facing in. Left because I'm not a freak, inside because it has a smaller chance of getting damaged. Facing out is the natural way for any other application, though.
I've never understood the whole "strong right arm" joke because of this. Surely the left hand is the "free hand" in this case?

While I feel it's a little irrelevant to the thread: since I hate people who act like soldiers who ain't, I feel I should point out that I am in fact only an officer cadet, not a regular soldier or officer :)

Left and facing out, anything else you may as well be shot for getting it wrong. If your left handed then clearly your parents are hippies and didn't teach you that right handed is the standard!

I got my Casio for £3.99 from Argos.

It looks like a watch for a ten year old, but it's pretty robust and tells you the time.

    :cooldude:

Oh, and left and facing out. Obviously.

Nothing wrong with a little OT, spec! Nobody ever stops you in the pub mid sentence and says,
"Hang on, that's totally off-topic, stop it." :D

I would never pretend to be a soldier, as a rule I've zero respect for them. I've met two (who are good friends) that I respect. One is a Major General and the other is a retired special operator who runs people and "stuff" in Afghan. But more than that, they're both fantastic human beings who do not think they own the planet because they can handle a weapon.

That said, there are a lot of things the military (both here and across the pond) do well and brevity of speech is one of them. Where I borrow that (as does everybody saying SNAFU or FUBAR) I don't think that makes me sound like someone who's trying to be a soldier, just somebody who is a pragmatist and draws from whatever works for him.

As for the retro Casio look:

It cost me a little more than £3.99 though!!

Right arm if I wear one, very rare that I do. Normally just use my mobile phone as I'm uncouth

Left facing outwards otherwise I'd be forever scratching the face when I'm working.

You organise your life around guitar-playing, don't you? :p

I don't wear a watch. Too constricting and irritating. I'm tempted by a pocket watch, though. I'm already getting a bowler hat for my birthday (see related thread below) so it'd kinda fit.

    edit-
    Ditto. Efficiency five.

I don't wear a watch, it's just unnecessary clutter on my person. Back when i did wear one, it was on my left wrist facing out, couldn't tell you why though.
