    Excellent question. Dont know !
Have my daughter today so i am working from home. I will weigh the model.

The Canope is exactly 2.3 kg. It is just styrofoam with a layer of filling and a layer of epoxy and glasfiber. The baseplate is around 3,5 kg and I guess the deflector tunnel with the pylons will be about 2,5 Kg. The reservoirs with coolant will be 1 kilogram each. So the whole thing without the normal hardware will 10 to 11 kilograms or 20 to 22 pounds.

    In comparison a lian-li PC-A77FA is around 9,2 Kg or 18,5 to 20 pounds.

Nice work mate. One question, where exactly is it going to live when you've fininshed.

Do you have a huge desk or are you going to hang it from the ceiling in mid flight? :)

...or, it would levitate itself around the room:D

joking aside, i think a stand would be perfect for this.

    cheers,
    chris

    Thanks !
It will be probably be supported by a modded tv mount off the wall in my office at home. Was thinking on this and this way I can extend also all the connections into the mount.
Another idea was to make use of a standard like this: [IMG]
But that will eat up a lot of room on my desk / office and is hard to balance out.
EDIT: It will be easier to move around (like to a LAN party) with a standard so the idea is definately not "out"

I did think after I posted a sturdy stand would be good as then you could hide all the cables away. Like you say though, it'd take a bit of space up. :eeek:

Or a indoor skydiving tube with a 80 inch fan at 15000 rpm, sure would do wonders for the temps too , LOL !!!

actually i was talking about a stand that would reside on the ground, not on an office.
something like a speaker stand, only steadier of course!

you wont have to move it to a lan party, just ride it there:D

    Here's another short update
Took apart my old hobby pc for a test fitting in the Eurisko.

This is what it looked like as a V1
    [IMG]

The V2 with a lot of plexiglass work, custom window and refitted case to house the internal 280 (roof) and 240 )(floor) radiators
    [IMG]

    Eurisko Test fitting
    [IMG]

Can order the goodies now the internal dimensions have been confirmed. Looks like maybe I can even fit a pair of 6890's in crossfire :D
Going to do the internal canope work tonight and start on the epoxy for the deflector tunnel.

    Later

Just took a tour through your buildlog! Sweet! Looking forward to more of that quality builds.
Are you working on something right now?

Was playing with the lcars idea also, your interpretation is spot on! +rep on the creativity side!

Next build is already being developed, have multiple idea's, all scifi. It will either be something from star trek, star wars or battlestar galactica. Aiming to finish this one by the end of april (hoping actually, lol)

Found a package at my house on friday.
The first Highflow order is in !

So here are the first starfleet approved USS EURISKO tech specs

The best radiators I could find. I am planning to overclock the system so i need all the cooling i can get. (also foam is a very good insulator so the less heat the better)

To get enough flow through a large ship like the EURISKO i need to have a strong pump. I have allowed room for a secondary laing pump if the circulation proves inadequate.

the fans for on top of the radiators. These fans will be put into a push-pull configuration with the planned fans in the bottom saucer. This to improve the cooling even better. Due to the thick thermochill rads, space was an issue. So I opted for these ultra thin (12mm) Scythe fans
    [IMG]

The White Hot EPS Plasm Conduits will be made from the UV tubing from Feser
    [IMG]

And a couple of beautifull pieces of mesh for the top and bottom DCIM's

And here they are : Itsy and Bitsy !!!
The built to order reservoirs for the EURISKO !
Made available by my sponsor : Brink of Modding

they hade to be exactly 27cm long and 5 cm wide to fit into the Warp Nacelles.
(update on how that will work, will follow shortly)

Here is the update for this weekend.

Started work on the canope and bottom saucer. One of the final dusty jobs.

All the bottom saucer parts glued to the baseplate
    [IMG]

And added a layer of epoxy
    [IMG]

Started work on the Main Deflector
Found a sweet piece of plexiglas, cut a hole for the fan to suck in some air and sunk a piece of mesh into it.

Cut a quick couple of pieces of depron to cover the edges. Now I have to wait for the deflector tunnel to be put into the filler and epoxy before i can complete it.

Started work on the warp nacelles with the Brink of Modding reservoirs.
Quickly realised the foam pylons and nacelles were not going to do the job. Setback of about a day. I wanted to hollow out the nacelles and put the hardware into it but the stiffness of the epoxy/glas layer would not stand up to hold the reservoirs, coolant, tubing and fittings. Let alone the mechanical forces that would work onto the epoxy/glass layer once the servo's have been fitted and the whole wing section can move up and down. Back to the drawing board it is ...

Found the solution. There will be MDF plating in this baby ! :D
    [IMG]

Even in a starship they have to do weight reduction, so out with all the mdf we dont need!

And a quick test fitting. This picture is with the old foam pylons (the new solution in beneath it)

with this solution the pylon/nacelle partition will be strong enough to handle anything.

Made sure the dimensions stayed the same due to the relative sizes (nacelles vs canope vs width and height)

Side facing view with the reservoirs sticking out of the wood just slightly. This will be made better by the depron plates.

Just a quick test with a single led. working with WWWicked on a 10 fold led arrangement for the nacelles.

    Total view
    [IMG]

Could not resist testing the Main Deflector with the led. The MD needs to finished with the Angel Eyes or Frosted Led technique.

Wish I had 2 leds for testing ...

    Best

Oh yeah did I mention it is an extreme honour to be nominated?
Please give my wife a reason to tolerate the mess of future builds :thumb:

You have been voted for. :thumb:

Even if it wasn't a great build I'd vote purely for the amount of mess you've made. :D

LOL thanks! Next one will probably be a Desanto Cylon Centurion. This will mean a sculpture of the head and shoulder parts of the cylon made out of ... you guessed it .... FOAM !!!!

    The mess will return !
