Hi there is there anywhere that shows what direct X games support. Is Crysis 2 Direct X 10 or 11 for example. It would give me a better idea for a new graphics card upgade.

All new graphics cards support up to DX11. (GTX 4xx and HD 5xxx >)

Crysis 2 will ship with DX9, then a patch will come out sometime after launch with the DX10/11 renderer.
For DX10/11 you must run Windows 7.

Just to say, so far there isn't any full DX10 or 11 games. Most of the time (but not always), they are silly effect in some room or what-not. Basically, just to say "WOooooOOOOoooo!!! we use DirectX 10 / 11!". Why? Because it goes with market share. If a game publishers kinda forces game developer to sell games to a greater market share, so fancy graphics are forced to be put aside, in favor of the most used graphic technology: DirectX9 (or older OpenGL than the latest one).

The switch to DX10 or 11 will start when most people use Windows Vista or 7 (as both OS have DX10/11, they go together). As most large businesses still use XP, and that people still use their old laptop/desktop, or stuck to XP as if it's oh holy of OS, despite being terrible one, and that they don't upgrade their graphic card to something descent, shows that people still uses XP, even though, and most likely, most gamers don't use XP anymore.

Plus, the fact that publishers force game developer to make their game multi-platform.. meaning a focus on consoles or at least the XBox 360 (uses DirectX9), really doesn't help in advance gaming graphics and engine technologies.

In addition, publishers pushes game developer to have their games to have them run on the lowest platform, for the JUST IN CASE that person goes out and buys the game type of scenario, as they are trusty for money.

Of course it takes a while until DX11 is utilized for what its worth, but we got games like Metro 2033 and the upcoming Battlefield 3 that pushes the industry forward :)

Off the top of my head I can think of two - Shattered Horizon and Just Cause 2.
