I just bought one of these: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/400w...s-80-eff-sli-crossfire-34db-eps-12v-120mm-fan for £29.99 on Scan's Today Only. It is going in a 1155 i3 non-gaming build (on board GPU only). I'll let you know what it is like when it arrives in a day or two.
It was only that price over the weekend, it is now back to £38.34 which is the same price as the Antec EA 380D Green.

Many ppl around this forum and others have advised avoiding the Corsair. geoboy, under £40 and preferably closer to £30.
I have to say I agree with TrashCan. Despite your advice, that is the bets PSU for the budget you've given, plain and simple. sorry if thats not what you want to hear but it's the truth
I can confirm the Earthwatts is a solid performer, been running for years now in my familes main PC no problems whatsoever.
I'm in the same boat as you at the moment mate and am looking for a reliable PSU at around the £30-40 mark for my father's PC. I've heard mixed reviews on the Corsair CX430 so not too sure about this to be honest. The Antec Earthwatts 380W comes with a 3 yera manufacturer's warranty whilst the Corsair only comes with 2 years. There's only a £3 difference between the two so I can see myself opting for the Antec. I may just hang fire and see if it comes up on the Today Only deals in the near future however.
I thought they said that it was quite quiet, maybe it was noisy at 80% load and up, but that's got to be pretty normal, and IMO you are unlikely to push it that hard. Even though the Antec Earthwatts is more efficient?
i dont know about efficiency but i've built three systems with the corsair and i can vouch for reliability.
I posted elsewhere on this forum about it but the Corsair Builder Series got 9 out of 10 from jonnyguru. In addition, they are shortly going to release a v2 of the Builder Series that ARE 80 Plus certified. given they they missed out on being able to be certified (not sure if Corsair bothered once they tested them) by around 1%, they have simply upgraded some of the internal components and have been able to achieve certification. I only bought the Strider because a) it has reasonable testing results, b) it is going in a web/email/photo only PC using SB on-board GPU only and c) it was £29.99 and it wasn't my budget I was spending. If the Strider had been at it's normal £38, I would have bought either the Antec EA 380D or the Corsair CX430.

Dunno, it's so new that I can't find any reviews. If it is 83% efficient, how come there is no certification? They have certified the AWT series: http://www.plugloadsolutions.com/80PlusPowerSuppliesDetail.aspx?id=28&type=2.
