Just one more question: how come there are no actual screenshots in the review?

Because our Xbox 360 screengrabber is an ornery old *******. We'll have a proper, old-fashioned bit-tech graphical breakdown of the PC version though, don't worry.

Didn't worry, just wondering. Cheers for the quick reply, Joe. :thumb:

I just hope that it still uses CVAR files that can be edited.

On another note, I actually prefer checkpoint saves - it stops me abusing the F5 key and IMHO makes the game more fun as a result.

    P.S.

If we accept this now, it paves the way for others to do the same :sigh: .

Or RockPaperShotgun. Or all the people on my Facebook feed. Or any of the people who've been requesting it for years.

I've complained to numerous publishers about this many times. Nothing ever changes.

Great, on-line only DRM. Looks like I wont be buying this. Mind you I'm still waiting for Crysis Warhead to be released DRM free. Nice on Crytek you just lost yourself £30

Looks like it'll be another Matrix. They made a sequel to Crysis?

Dont' listen to podcasts, no. But if that happens in the intro, then mild complaint retracted. (I just "eyerolled", didn't throw a flamey-fit.)

And HL2 was released in Nov 2004. You seriously want to tell me a one-line comparison synopsis between HL1 and HL2 posted March 2011 constitutes spoilage?

    Meh.

Those page-frame ads and that Crysis 2 guide gets you a minimum of 7. It was probably in the contract.

After some extensive looking into the single-player campaign on PC i noticed how badly cryktek screwed PC players over. They may have "streamlined" some things but where's the:

    destructible environments?
Where are all the breakable objects?
where are the random things you could pick up and chuck at enemies or whack them with?
    Where are the breakable trees?
i freakin' bought the first crysis just to shoot trees down and chuck the branches at people!
Nomad could talk but Alcatraz is a mute?

The game is solid but it just makes way too many concessions for consoles. Just imagine what this game could have been if it was released only on PC. i'll buy this in a steam sale for 10 bucks at some point.

I seem to remember they released a DRM removal tool for it. Try checking the official page (mycrysis.net I think(

Disappointingly average. It's not bad, by any means, but I was hoping for something particularly good. Some very dodgy textures here & there, really limited graphics & control options. No manual saves? checkpoints only? Really? And a drawn out, forced, built in, tutorial that's clearly geared to people who've never played the first game. Oh & the game crashed after the intro & I had to rewatch the whole damn thing, because, surprise, surprise, it's unskippable!
And, as already said, if it doesn't sell they'll blame the piracy & not the fact that they've been moving backwards.
A 6 would indeed have seemed appropriate at this point.
... But... I'm only 2hrs in, maybe it will pick up. The plot has potential to grow & twist & as everyone is saying, it's still quite a pretty game, even if it doesn't push the envelope like the first one did. Fingers crossed.
