    It's Late night.

But what the hell are Crytec doing?

We have a game released for all platforms .

So why hasn't the PC community been considered?

Everyone knows that PC. Fans demand something that requires them to struggle with a latest release and have to "Upgrade" somehow.

Crysis 2. Is not that release:(

You can find many an example of what was going to be issued with this game from 2 years ago
Unfortunately this offering does not deliver.

Just spent half the night flicking back to Crysis 1/Warhead/and back to Crysis 2 and well opportunities have been missed by a long chalk.
The fact that developers need to make money is sound enough. However to release this effort on PC. is debasing to everyone in the PC realm.
    Where is the OMG. facter?
    Upgrade level?
    Invincibility?
    How much???
Ain't happening in this game as stands.

It's a console port. Be sure.

Unless Upgrades are forthcoming. (Don't hold your breath. Console buyers have to be exhausted first.)

    Curates Egg? You Bet!

You forgot to mention the stinkin' save point system - no free save games on PC.

Ah, consolification. Cause and effect. We pirated everything constantly; developers gave up on us and branched out into consoles to survive. Sounds reasonable to me.

Regarding the review, I couldn't help noticing the near-total absence of gameplay discussion. Joe's reviews are normally much more in-depth on gameplay, on particular strengths and weaknesses - more descriptive. This seemed like an almost purely technical review. Was this due to time limitations, or has Crysis become one of those series where the actual gameplay is commonly understood and the quality of the engine and the multiplayer is the main point of interest (like Call of Duty)? Is it just that nothing has changed since Warhead?

edit - oh, nevermind, I see. The gameplay review was already provided in the 360 version review. Needs moar interlinking between relevant articles! :)

    Greetings!
Because a 2007 game still looks better than a 2011 game?
The 2011 one just looks blurry.
The lack of graphic options is just ridiculous.

Isn't steam the solution to that problem?

...and before anyone shouts brick and motar, let them continue to fleece console gamers. Its not as if they stock pc games anymore outside the sims, plus I'd turn to amazon long before high street. Its not as if it would be hard to set up a distribution model either, they're either slow, lazy or fear change.

Well, depends on location to be honest. In the UK and NA you generally seem to get reasonable prices plus the usual bargains every now and then. In the rest of the EU the pricing seems to be ridiculous.

As for Crysis 2, the single player campaign looks competent enough, however it is the compromises made for the consoles that put me off buying, that and the bugs/glitches. I'll wait for a patch or two and a price drop.

Most of the bargain prices in Euroland are more expensive than the regular UK online shops prices. No wonder UK has such a strong game market.

"And insulted the PC community? Get off your high horse. Crysis 2 is much better on PC than on console, and while it hasn't shipped with all the finery and trappings we'd have hoped, it's still a great game....really? it is flawed at best. Crysis inspired the chant 'but can it play... Bit-tech no longer choose to answer that question and this game doesn't ask it.

    DX11 is coming (probably) ...not!

as are more advanced GFX settings....likewise!

Yes, I'd prefer to see these settings in the game, but Crytek and EA are businesses and aren't a PC gamers graphics porn charity....except when pushing the original Crysis, of course.

After Crysis' being heavily pirated, they obviously (and correctly) felt more money was there to be made on the consoles....just what are the stats for the number of Xbox/ps3 games pirated on a regular basis? WHAT'S MORE WHY ARE YOU promulgating the modern myth that only PC games are pirated?

I'm getting fed up of PC gamers thinking companies somehow "owe" them all these wonderful extras for free... what, a game that's bug free? Kb/mouse orientated? Graphically sumptuous....sorry, I mean nice? Sure, Valve does support its game splendidly, and we should commend them for that...and if they can why can't the others?

but the fact of the matter is that PC releases make nowhere near as much money for the publishers and developers as console releases do (Just play game dev story and see how long you can be PC dedicated)... no, we just play the game more often, longer and ask for more in terms of content, game play and graphics ....shame on us... for being discerning customers. Of course we're still paying for the game remember... and if devs didn't make a profit from PC gamers they wouldn't write for us. They do...so they do!

Owning a PC doesn't make us god's gift to gaming...actually, given the atrophy currently occurring in the console realm... god's gift is actually just what we are!!!! Shove the graphics capabilities of a 6970 or a 580 in a devs face and ask if he can ignore >that< I bet he'll say to 'yeah, but I haveto write for the 2005 Xbox/PS3 equivilent.

it just means we pay less for your games, expect them to run on thousands of hardware configurations, demand ongoing free support and are far more likely to steal the game in first place....speak for yourself on that last point!

I think the fact that the game released on PC at all is a good thing.... nowt like charity! TY for that.

Baz the guy you responded to was out of order. However, in reply, I feel you've just gone and said "you know what, consoles can't be pirated, console players are happy to get that which they receive and PC players are all pirates anyway".

    Thanks.

Did people really want another monster like Crysis ? Imagine if Crysis 2 ran at 12fps @1024 on a gtx580 !!

You would be all crying because you couldn't play it.

It's better than on the console and is worth playing, nuff said.

It's an above average shooter with some stunning moments, shame they were too few and far between. Despite the 'strategy options' I still felt it was far too linear considering it's heratige. I always felt that Crysis was more of a sequal to Far Cry than Far Cry 2 would ever be.

Still It's an enjoyable enough game, and while I'm thankful that my system can handle it full detail, I was hoping for a little more wow factor.

I'd enjoy that because it would mean Crytek actually tried and continued to push boundaries. Plus, the graphics would be so insane to bring hardware like that to it's knees.

The AI in this game is a bit too crap for any decent replayability imo.

No, it would more likely mean it was another poorly optimised, piece of crap, attempt at coding. Yes it looked amazing, but it wasn't a fantastic game. It was a good game, and I enjoyed it, but it wasn't great.

It got top reviews all over which were, to my mind, complete tosh. Games journos tend to have the latest and greatest hardware at their disposal when reviewing games, and so they should - they have to be able to run it to review it.

However, every last frikkin one of them got so blown away by the pretty visuals, they forgot to score it sensibly. i.e. they didn't give a moment's thought to the fact that the vast majority of the people reading their review wouldn't have the hardware to do it justice; because of the aforementioned PoS coding.

How many times have you walked up the counter with a game and been asked "are you sure your system can run this?", by the staff?

    Before Crysis? Probably never.

All I'm gonna say to most of the comments is vote with your wallet. It's not hard. I for one will be anxiously waiting for the DX11 patch and for the needed enhancements before I cast mine.

If not, then long live Crysis 1!

You can have direct x 11 on your pc with a video card that wont support it.
directx 11 is more than fancy graphics.
