The milling machine I use has just broke so its gonna be abit longer till I can carry on with front door panels

The gear has come off the motors shaft and I can't find the fixing which keeps it in place.

 

Dear God, I've seen modders modify fans in many ways, but you're almost constructing one from scratch. Amazing work!

The little gap on the right is so the light from the side of heatsink can be seen:




The milling machine is also fixed now as the fixing for the gear was found.

 

There are some really, really beautiful curves in this build. Keep it up!

Impressive! As always Why didn't you use the motor that came with the blower though, or am I missing something obvious as usual...?

 

Thats a awesome design for the cross-flow fan. i like the way its still partially visible.
makes your unique WC system even more unique, because i cant name any mod right now that has one on a heat sink.

Failed ideas it what drives us on and in the end provides a better end product. It can prove to be an expensive way to do things though.
I've just started a new build and changed direction slightly with it already, ok no expensive cock ups but just new ideas popping into my head.
If it all went smoothly where would the fun be in that. That said Heat blast went together exactly as planned, but I look at that as a one off..lol

Mod on Keir you're doing an amazing job mate. I can't wait to see it all finished.

Heres the next update for the fan as the milling machine is still occupied:

I started by drilling a hole through the center of a aluminum round bar, then widening it bit by bit:



A mark was then cut into the bar to mark the end:





I then drilled a hole into the center of the round bar with a center drill:





I then started trimming down the outside:



I then cut the end piece off:





I then drilled a hole through:



Heres it is after some sanding:



And with the magnetic hammered in:



Heres where it fits:



The hole goes all the way through for the 3mm stainless steel shaft to go through, however the hole in the magnet piece I've just made is slightly smaller than 3mm so as it turns it will turn the shaft:

 

Nice work. Is there any thing your not going to make for this case?

I bet you're even going to make your own air to cool it...lol

Awesome work, I'm going to follow this.

One idea though, why not putting the fan on top? I think it would be kinda cool to see the thing spinning, and maybe it looks better than looking directly into the heatsink..
