    Hi friends and family,

My youngest son went two weeks ago to kindergarden.
And during the week he had to make the decision to play some kidgames or play with a pc.
Guess what he choose ........... ;)
At home he asked me "Can i have a computer"
    Oehh, opportunity for me.
"Hmm, just ask your mother" (i knew the answer allready but needs to cover this)

This was the beginning of this mod. Now my son adores the disney movie "Cars"
So the theme was allready chosen.
I've bought a combination TV/DVD from Lightning McQueen.
Just perfect. Did some research first, but seems to be perfect for a lcd and a m-atx motherboard
And all seems to fit very well.

    This mod sponsored by:

No high-tech stuff in this build, but just fast enough for kid games :

    Intel dual-core E6400
    MSI P4M890M
Corsair 1000w Power Supply (a little bit high, but dont have something else)
    CORSAIR XMS2 2GB DDR2
    Neovo 15 inch LCD
And other stuff but that's a surprise

So the nice Mr. Lightning McQueen

    Still works good (for now)

The intention is to make a acryl top to make the motherboard vissible

Funny is the mouth of McQueen. perfect for the dvd-rw

    Panel for the buttons

The plan is to remove the old display and place a 15-inch LCD

    Carefully removed everything.

    Some plastic parts

And the inside, with enough room for the motherboard tray.

    Prepared the 15-inch screen.

    The screen

To fit this, i had to remove some plastic

Had to adapt it all around

    And the screen fits

Infront the lcd i'am gonna place a curved plate of acryl

That's it for now, hope you like it
I admit, the mod is a little different from the other mods of mine that that i made.
But quite a nice project, I think.

    To be continued. :thumb:

That's a very good start! I like the idea, it's very original, I'll keep my eye on this.

This is just great! I wonder if it would be possible to put speakers in the center of the wheels... that could be pretty slick! But then again, it already has speakers in the front, so might as well use those :D

Also, tough part about putting an LCD where a CRT used to be is that curve from the CRT... any plans to fill that in at all?

    Thanks,
The idea is to put 140mm fans in the center of the wheels with fanguards (for the precious little fingers) on both sides.
For space between the lcd iam gonna use red acryl to fill it up, covered al with transparent acryl
    (for the dirty little fingers)

    Update!!!

This time I made some adjustments to the LCD housing
To fit it I had quite a few of the grinding to do

My little modder is helping his daddy

    And made it fit

The hood for the electrical part

    Painted it red

    fits perfectly

Just need to put some screw in it

Earlier this week I had put an ad, asking for an m-atx tray
wwwicked was kind enough to respond.
Thursday the package arrived. A nice case from wwwicked

With DVD writter, even with a remote eject, Mark had already made that for me

And when I opened the case, I found some nice Cars goodies, Mark thanks on my behalf and Luuk (my son)

Remains to see if I can use the tray, but I think so

The difference with the DVD that came out, and the writer.

To put this into the mouth of MacQueen, I make some small changes

    -Before

    -And after

Still needs to customize a tray to keep everything in place

And I have fixed the mouth itself also on the writer, after some small changes

Finally I cut out the hood

    Neatly cut

And cut out a board of the tray, how it will be

    Fits perfectly

And the piece of cardboard under the hood

I hope tomorrow to get some stuff delivered ;)

    Grtzzz.

    Excellent work!

If you are going to put curved acrylic in front of the screen, you may want to consider an anti-glare coating. Also make sure that there is absolutely no dust trapped behind it.

That is awesome. Most people would just buy a pc and call it a day but I really like what your doing with the whole theme / idea for your son. Best of luck with it, and looking forward to see more!

    Update!!!

    Hello
Last Thursday I got a big box filled in with all sorts of goodies from Coolermaster
    Packages, I love it!

    The box

Once everything was unpacked i found some really nice fans
    120mm Black CM coolers

    140mm black fans

Beautiful fans with red leds in it

2 x 120mm aluminum fans, nice big aluminum blocks

At first I would have placed a Corsair 1000w power supply in the mod,
but Cooler Master has spoiled me again with a wonderful Silent Pro 600W power supply

    The beauty

And the engine for MacMod ........ Cooler Master V8

    1 piece of power

    outcoming heatpipes

    Really nice cooler

    Disassembled it right away

Fanbracked with red LED inside the fan

The intention is that I still going to make something out of the V8, but i'm not sure.
The space that I got from the cooler to the hood is not much.

I also sawn the case from wwwicked (sorry man)
The original midplate has too many bumps

So it was not really usable, but have some other things about the case that I used
For example the sidepanel, just make my own mobo tray.
    After some dremel violence

And we have our motherboard tray

Used the backside of the old case

Make this fit in the McMod

I have sawn the edge of the tray a little narrower,
so in order to get fit in the backplate, where I can slide it in

Still need to adjust the plastic above the GPU bracket.

For the weight of everything I have made some acryl strips and placed it beneed the tray (acryl 5mm)

still needs to give everything a paintjob

All has been fitting pretty good
And finally I used the dremel on my brand new fans (with red LED)

Removed some plastic from the wheels

After some measuring and grinding, it's fit pretty well,
obviously there will be placed a fanguard or mesh for the small delicate fingers

The leds are giving a nice effect i think

    Thats it for today ;)

    Grtzzz.

    Update

This weekend I've gone further with the wheels

Closed the back of the wheel, only to make a hole in the casing for the airflow

Placed to see how it looks

And made the plate for the psu and hdd's

Made the hole for the psu

    Something like this

    The backside

Had a small hdd rack lying around

    Fits nice like this

    And placed in the McMod

    Psu next to it

And the motherboard tray on top

Did a paintjob to the backside of the different trays

    Motherboard tray

    Backside of the psu/hdd tray

    And the hdd rack

And the I/O shield holder. (Don't know how you called this)

    Put everything together

    Nice color combination

Again the I/O thing, this time black

    And the backside

I am also trying some things out with the V8 block
Had a little insparation from the great V8 mod from Mnpctech

    http://cmstudio.coolermaster.com/video_play.php?lang=en&cid=1&vid=26

I've tried different things with the block, but i think the next idea is for this mod good enough
For this I have some 8mm stainless steel tubes and uses a bending iron

Bend some nice curved corners. But it's still not sure I leave this like this
As I'm still a little bit searching for the block.
(All the pipes are still loose)

Color difference goes away after a good polishing of stainless steel;).
Did everything put together. With the GTX285

Sometimes you need to have luck, it only just fits

That,s it for today my friends

    Grtzzz.

This is awesome. With a plexi window there, that will look like a Ferrari, a Real Michael Schumacher Ferrari! (by the way, I love that movie)

Wonderful update, it's looking more and more fantastic! Coolermaster must really have a thing for your son! I just used the 700w version of that power supply in a friend's build, I'll tell you nw that it's a fantastic, efficient, quiet PSU and you'll have no problems with it.

    Excellent work!

Ofcourse, like you said "what else"

Please do not compare McQueen with a Ferrari, he doesnt like that ;)
McQueen was inspired by the Ford GT40, but he is a Ford Mustang

Talent you can develop, cash is not the thing in this build. really is low-budget believe me
Most cases are more expensive then this old Cars tv

First a had a Corsair 1000w psu for it, but it was a little bit over the top, so the 600w version is just right
Coolermaster has surtenly a thing for me and my kid, love these guys and there products
One of the few sponsors that think along with me

Thnx, first i was thinking about the V10, but this one is even bigger then the V8
And as you see, there is not much space anymore
