Behold the most Epic Measurement Tool ever made for PC Modders, our PC Mod Ruler cnc milled from 1/8" thick pure Copper! We wanted MOTM Winners to have something special to commemorate their victory. Something to show off to your friends and family. "Where did you get this?!"...It's already been the topic of conversation at my shop. I liked the first one so much, that I kept it for myself. It weighs a pound, so everyone's eyes widen when they pick it up. I love sponsoring bit-tech's MOTM bit-tech announced this new prize today, so please cast your vote for the best mod for April's MOTM, HERE Each Ruler takes 45 minutes to make... The Copper rulers are covered with cutting oil before the CNC mill engraves the measurements.
I saw on the vote page, really very nice. Not only a measuring implement but a tool to batter any intruders with, and not one the dog can chew! Now only to create a mod worth of winning!
That's actually really damn nice. The engraved text really makes it special, a well thought-out trophy.
24k Gold would be way too soft, and thusly invalidate its use for dog chewing and intruder battering. Hate to think what 1lb of gold, custom machined, would cost, but it would be drool worthy.
Why would you use a ruler to batter intruders? that's why they make gunz You wouldn't even be able to machine the gold, you'd have to stamp it and even then it would be too soft
Copper's too soft for a practical ruler too, and thermal expansion and contraction means you'd have to use it at a stable temperature... nevertheless AWESOME!
You can buy the ruler off KustomPCs as well for £48, I don't think their ones will be engraved with "BIT-TECH.NET MOTM" though. It's a nice option for those of us who aren't as creative with modding to create a MOTM build.
Graeme will be taking pre-order for the Copper version, which will have "MNPCTECH 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY" engraving. @asura, Copper is denser than aluminum. The ruler weighs 1 pound
Oh, Lord. you did it... There's some truth to that. I got the original aluminum prototype. There was evidence that the postal service had used it as a boomerang. Packaging was strengthened as a result.
It's not the density but the hardness that makes a decent cutting ruler, which aside from a commemorative or art object is what you want. As an intruder battering tool better than aluminium yes Ultimate ruler, tungsten carbide, or single crystal sapphire; both too brittle for bashing or dropping (so probably not the ultimate ruler after all) but so incredibly hard and (the sapphire particularly) less prone to thermal expansion.
