Agree with whats been said, get some fresh IP, you've gained some momentum recently with some decent releases (and future... I'm looking at you BF3!) so don't go down the Activision route. Surely they must have some creative bods at EA dreaming up the next big thing.

    This.

C&C4 was a huge disappointment. But the Generals IP still has potential.

Holy ****, I forgot about C&C4. Was on the beta. What a terrible waste of time; such a disappointment.

Don't make another C&C. Make something new, you know, innovate rather than rehash.

C&C5: If you can guarantee that game won't include cut-scenes/movies with talentless idiots then I can consider C&C5 in the future. But frankly stop with C&C and Tiberium Wars. C&C3 was pathetic to the extreme, C&C4 was below dog-poo level (bought from discount bin, I wasn't that daft to buy it when released). Same story with Red Alert. Last good RA was RA2+YR expansion. RA3 was utterly atrocious. To sum up: C&C3,4 + RA3+expansion - played once - and never again.

Pretty much only [relatively] recent C&C which I enjoyed was C&C: Generals. With mods it is (still) great fun.

    Make another DUNE game. Please!
Emperor:Battle for Dune was great. But today with W Vista, 7 and 64-bit OS it is tough to run it properly. Very much 'luck factor' is involved. If not Dune then I will settle for Generals 2.

    Gut reaction is; DON'T.

But tbh if they could capture the feel of C&C (which I seriously doubt than can 'cos nobody at EA has a soul) then I don't think it would hurt to incorporate gameplay more akin to Dawn of War: the squad based mechanics and Starcraft-esque unit macro buttons (upgrades and skills etc) could work very well I think.

I loved Tiberian Dawn with a passion and part of that was it was mad, but still rooted in the modern day to a degree, the sequels have been far too sci-fi. I think Generals worked for the same reason. If you keep a recognisable setting and inject small amounts of fantastical science and technology it works a treat.

    This, also improve the AI.

There are a few other games I'd like brought up to data tech wise.
    > X-wing (I can't even install Alliance any more on windows 7 64bit.)
    > Birth of the federation (the game turns took so long to process by turn 100 it became painful, and combat was not brilliant either)

Why not try re-doing the Dune tie in. The original game was fab on the Amiga and PC back in (about) 1994, so why not look to different themes as opposed to calling it command and Conquer...

You know.... a bit like EA do with the COD franchise. Could be called "C&C - Dune - The battle for Arakis" or summat....

If the guys on the dev team don't have any good ideas then just let it die... There are some widely recognised unit types from C&C, but in terms of gameplay mechanics they are kidding themselves if they think they can beat starcraft 2 in the 'classic' RTS segment - especially when they probably want it out the door in under two years.

Seconded. Mirror's Edge was, in my opinion, one of the most innovative games since Portal. If anything, its art direction was a breath of fresh air.

Mirror's Edge 2 is begging to be an open-world, sandbox game...
