I'm in, though currently only working on a netbook. Hoping the new model is up soon...

Like promised, here's the remodeled version of the HAF 932.

I made all parts standalone (chassis is not a big chunk anymore!) cleaned it up and added a little bit of detail.

    -Rep'd!

I'm sticking with the original, though. -The basic dimensions will be the only thing left by the time I'm done.

Sure, there'll be alot of things to be modified.

However, I'm a fan of "proof of concept" and therefore the model has to be of higher resolution then the initial model.
In the initial model there's more space available then there actually is. The doors for example are pertruding 6mm into the case on the top and the bottom.

So if I'm only going by the outer dimensions, I'm not taking alot of the original chassis into account. I need to know where there's holes I can make use of, I need to know where there's holes, where I can't mount something and I need to know, where I do need to cut away something to make room for my desired hardware etc.

Anyways, we're just talking of some fun design, so it doesn't really matter in that regard...

...I'm still a perfectionist tho :hehe:

I'm trying to de-program myself of that mindset this time. I'm seeing it get in the way of my whimsy, (No, that's not a body part.)

    -Where's everybody at?

Changes so far: New outer bezel, removed all but a single optical bay, chopped out the base, fans moved to outside.
I think I have room for an SR2.

As much as I'm wrapping my head around this one, I just can't come up with something reasonable for a case as huge as this one.

So either I'm starting from scratch, which isn't the point of this contest, or I'm simply slapping some hardware inside the case and be done with it, not doing alot of modifications at all.

My current rig fits six times into the HAF932 btw ^^

I can see some sort of immense water cooled mITX cluster in a modded HAF there, with a massive car radiator (or 2) hanging off of the side to handle the temps. But ask fusis, im big on small clusters :)

I thought the concept this time was to transform CM's legendary ugly duckling... into something uglier.
I half-expected Confusis to drop one of his Dell Optiplex cages on us.

Sounds like you are getting close to an answer. Why not model up a 'multi-rig' inside of the given case. One part file server, one part folding rig, one part gamer, and left over space for a W/C setup.

If I had the time and skills to make the models, my plan was to do something like this. But please have at it, I would love to see the results (even cooler if you do manage to fit 6 rigs inside, your own portable self contained Lan Part)

Ok so this will be myfirst update on what im doing so far i have only done the front panel and changed the sides there will be more things added and taken away. The idea is to keep some of the cm style and parts of the case is well as adding some "££$£%% options but i will keep that to my self for now.Hope you guys like it :D [IMG]

I think I used screenshots like that in one of the modding contests (without the coloured background though). The realistic mode in 3ds Max has improved sinse then though. But I don't think it looks rendered atall Dark, afterall some of the screenshots you can get from sketchup looks pretty good aswell.

I may enter this competition, starting next wed. But it all depends if I've had enough of sitting in front of my computer working on 3d models. That's all I've been doing for close to 20 hours a day for the last month or more anyway for uni work....

 Why would you want to do that?

@Dark - This crappiest possible viewing mode should be on par with SU.:D

-I put way too much effort into the pump assembly. Anyone remember those water-filled games from the '70s?

    This thread's strangely quiet...

Confusis should nut over the color choice. The face is a low-poly representation. Imagine the whole thing as a radiator surface.
Might play with the Thermalfins concept radiator next.

I didn't started yet, this case is big and I have no idea yet about what to do with it. My mind is in "think small" mode right now :D
