More LED stuff arrived Im really waiting now for the heatsinks to arrive from america before I can get started and I stupidly on a whim got them sent to my real address in ireland instead of my relations in northern ireland address like I usually do so not sure when itll arrive
My LED Build So put my LED unit in over the last two days. Here is a few pics of the process! Im not a neat person by nature - if it works ok I dont care what it looks like. The cleaned out hood! And the new fans. Had to put plastic and silicon it into this section to form a watertight seal. Quite the mess I have going here! LED Heat sink and lights installed into hood. And YES that is DD Aquarium epoxy Putty holding the fans in place. Works a charm! Starting the soldering which I suck at. My desk is a mess and HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Clegg you useless LAZY LYING BUM!!!! All finished with the ardunio unit. Works first time woooot! Whites only. Blues only. Close up of the putty and all finished. Splashguard on. Fan filters installed! And hood installed. Done wooo! Now to get rid of the cyno bacteria! Not an easy task but its now on my list.
Heat sinks and lens arrived today will buy wood tomorrow on way home from work i think and get started properly
Pulled my old 20 tall out of mothballs finally to assemble a crayfish tank for the wife. Going LEDs as well, with a 48w RGB array controlled by Arduino as well as temp sensors and a display-nature sounds to come money permitting. Inside the tank will also be our 360, and I'll let you all try and figure out what I'm doing. Pics to come after hospital time is done.
Nice pics Shig, used to have quite a large fish tank but we only had goldfish in it. Might try and dig it out and have a go at making a nice aquarium out of it.
Not to sound like a broken record, but... Where did you get the heatsinks from? Sourcing stuff like that is hard. Most shops require you order the entire extrusion run/bulk/etc. I love to make some radiator grills out of that stuff that could make Batman riding a polar bear seem ordinary.
ledsupply.com. they drill them and even supply the screws so very handy, I wouldnt be fit to tap them myself so was a very good option for me buckpucks all wired up, pic of my assistant included lol I made the box to house everything yesterday after work sprayed it today and its drying now, ill upload pics soon when its ready
And there was light! Immediately burnt out one of the buckpucks for the blue leds and one or two leds didnt come on, think i must have a few shorts, had checked but must have missed some
Nice, will have to post some pics of all I dragged out of storage finally. I had just picked it up before having to move, so tags and all it went in. Good setup, but did you think about RGBs?
I haz a happy! One of the first generation guppy males looks like a clone of the father. Terribly nice 1/2 yellow delta tail. I will cross breed that line for sure. Pics if I figure out how to do macro or buy a better camera john
cant get my leds dimming, think ive fecked up the proto board on the arduino, hopefully ill get it right soon
Currently weighing options on CO2 injection-can't decide if I want to do a yeast setup or a paintball CO2 setup. Choices, choices.
When I was thinking about it I was thinking about getting a 2kg fire extinguisher Got my dimming working last night only prob now is the power supplies buzz when the leds are dimmed
Finished my leds toady A pineapple coral that I bought awhile ago that hadnt been doing great has already perked up, half an hour in Havent decided yet how high ill keep the lights
Looks good Shig. Bought this last night: http://www.aquariums.ltd.uk/CabinetBuy.asp?CABID=267 in Mangfall Beech. hopefully will let me get my tank up and running soon, yay. Sam
