Looks like they use torrenting to distribute, can see a few torrent files in my temp folder for Sega All Stars. Would explain why I was seeing a lot of uploading going on.

That would be quite cheeky in a market where traffic caps are still common for household connections. As a matter of fact, even without a traffic cap i wouldn't want to help a company's distribution for free!

You can delete the torrent files after downloading, but if you keep/store the folder that's there you can re-install the game from that. I was getting about 3Mb on a 16Mb line yesterday d/l Total War 2.

Might have been prudent to mention in the article that registration is only possible within the UK. Especially, since Dixons' service is mentioned alongside STEAM, GfWL and Impulse, which are all services available worldwide.

Just checked the site. 25 GBP/28 EUR for Witcher 2. Game prices are cheap in the UK. Too bad steam still has ridiculous pricing on the continent.

The downloader needs work, but the prices appear reasonable..

That seems pretty smooth. Free is always good :) It's good to have another player in the market, with any luck this *might* mean that Steam's general prices ease their way down a little - who knows ;)

    Indeed...

    games in the US: 49$
games in the EU: 49€ (=69$)

that's why i would say that dixons has similar pricing as the US which is applaudable. How can i buy games from them as a citizen outside the UK? :S

STEAM prices are typically already way lower for UK citizens than for us having to pay the Euro tax.
That's the general idea. You can't...
