The kid who's parents think it's cool to let their kid chose their sex.

They are not doing any of these things, but it's nice to see you embrace the Daily Mail spirit.

All that the parents are doing is let their child work out for itself whether it is a boy or a girl (a feat I managed all by myself by age two, despite the fact that I had no sisters for comparison), and that being a particular gender does not have to mean that you have to behave or dress in a particular way.

But, you know, perhaps they sacrifice goats to Satan too, the weirdos. You just can't trust people who are different.

So I'm all for Mankz' suggestion. Take those kids away from their parents and put them in a nice conservative family, where dad works at the office, sexually harassing the odd temp and getting pissed with his mates in the pub on Friday nights until a heart attack carries him away from his desk at fifty, and mom stays at home drowning her frustrated ambitions in sherry and Prozac like a sack of kittens in a river; a family that worships an imaginary deity at a church that promotes sexual frustration, homophobia, ideological intolerance, capitalism and misogyny and tacitly protects child-molesting priests because, like, what will the neighbours say if they find out? Yup, that's an environment where children learn some sound family values and important lessons about gender. :thumb:

Oh, and never, ever tell a child that it can be whatever it wants to be. Next you'll have girls wanting to be doctors, or something, and boys wanting to be nurses. The very idea.

Nice to see the Royal Family revitalising the idea that if girls are 'lucky' they too can grow up to be a Princess...

They don't now have to just dream of being a WAG, the modern day mini-princess equivalent.

    How times have changed...

I feel as though you've overlooked the fact that the parents will almost inevitably sleep in different beds (if not rooms), never showing any affection towards each other whilst the wife's constant black eyes or broken jaws are due to incidents with doors left ajar, because after all women are clumsy by their very nature, their foibles oft getting the better of them, giving the Man Of The House all the more impetus to be the Head Of The Household as their theistic interpretation states is the correct order for the universe. You've also overlooked the constant medication the child will receive for Absolutely Real™ medical conditions such as ADD - don't want your little bag of potential thinking of anything aside from it's school work, do you?

it's not really going against telling a child he/she can be whatever they want to be.. but the basics he/she, your born one or the other.. I dunno, that's the way I see it anyways, I mean why even go there and to advertise on top of that- there's more going on

your view of the conservative family is something more dysfunctional than this.. I'm sure you've seen it though, so I'm not gonna argue

Out of interest can the kids refer to their mum and dad as 'mum' and 'dad'?

Or would that be fitting stereotypical labels and not fit in with their ideology?

Obviously they would not be raised with such bourgeois notions of parenthood. Rather they are raised to think of themselves as gender-neutral members of the proletariat, not offspring of their parents, but productive units generated as part of the obligation that its citizens have to ensure the continued existence of the Party. They are all children of the great leader. They worship him as their god and salute him every morning as they sing their song of allegiance to the great Socialist ideal and do their morning exercises. Then they go to work in the factory where their little hands are so much more suited to the meticulous work of binding the little red books that outlines the Party ideology and which they learn to recite by heart. At lunch they receive their injections which suppressed their normal growth and gender development. After puberty the boys will get castrated and the girls will receive a double mastectomy. That one-size-fits-all overall Party regulations coverall does not accommodate a cup size. They are raised to be soulless, genderless Party drones.

Or is that the Catholic Church? I keep getting the two mixed up.

Ask Elledan what her parents told her that she was, and if they turned out to be right.

Better to be a Tory than a short-sighted, 'live for today', economically inept Labour supporter :thumb:

raising their child genderless just comes across as pointless, keeping it secret even more so.

i'm all for raising kids and disregarding "social norms", if a boy wants to play so called "girl" games let him, or if he wants to wear a dress, let him and vice versa for girls.

but keeping the gender secret just comes across as unworkable, impracticable and generally pointless.

Well, so far we have the Daily Mail reader: "Leftie Satan-worshipping freaks! Won't anyone think of the children?!"

We have the 'Shifting Paradigms without a Clutch' crowd: "But-but-but-how can boys be boys and girls be girls if no-one tells them? How can you relate to someone if you don't know what gender they are?" (forgetting they do this all the time on the forum)

We have the Stereotypers: I bet they also shave their hair, do not use gendered pronouns and force their kids to eat from dog bowls and sleep in hutches..."

We have the Rational debaters. But nobody listens to those.
