I have the magicut file but I found that my nicholson aluminum file (that is to say designed for aluminum) seems to give faster removal despite being smaller. I'll have to give the magicut another go this evening...
It's always awesome and inspiring to see what you can to with very basic tools Attila! You make me confident that I can make something awesome when I get my workshop sorted (with a lot more than what you need to make awesome mods).
Ahhhh very nice Attila. So that cutting time is compared to 12" b*st*rd file ? If so I will have to get one to
Thanks for the replies guys. After making the top tie piece and looking at it for a bit, the curve at the front was made more pronounced. Mainly to carry a slightly more aggressive look over to the front. Five separate, self contained removable panels will be made. An aluminium framework will be made for each of these panels, mainly for strength but also as a guide for the final appearance. Using various tools, the lines and curves are worked out. But while doing this, it was determined that the height of the rad/fans was still too high. This was mainly due to the mounting posts on the fans. So they were cut down. The only problem with this was that the centred bolt pipe is attached to the top, so a great big void is left. After a trip to the local 'size of a football field' hardware store, I found something that fills the holes and re-centred the bolts. And it's a nice press fit. And the height is greatly reduced. Doing this allowed the nose part of the frame to be made. Then four supporting cross braces need to be made. This was first worked out in cardboard and then made in alu. I started with just one piece to get an idea of what is necessary before the other parts are made. Gets very cosy with the rad. Remember this framework is mainly for strength but the very slightest hint of the final shape is present. With the knowledge gleaned from the first cross piece, the others can be made from the same template and modified to fit. But I've run out of time so I'll file them another time.
I like the kinda animal qualities it has, the feet remind me of something like a mammal standing. This is going to be cool, your attention to detail is magnificent. Are you going to make your own reservoirs?
Still drooling, can't reply... -I also find myself googling local aluminum suppliers before I reply lately.
As always very inspiring & looking lovely sweet design & build quality, but don't you just kind of hate it when you have parts like that to make & theres no other way to make better use of the material, I know I do but then again it'll always come in useful for something at another time , bet you've got an awesome scrap pile . +rep
I can't explain how much I enjoy reading your logs dude, once this one is finished you should really think about turning them into a book
