Ok, so because I'm a monitor tard (and because I really haven't heard of them) which monitor should I get?

 

I have a cheap iiyama 26". I am content. Back to the game

If you're in it for gaming try looking at 120Hz monitors, supposed to be quite nice for gaming provided you keep your framerate up high enough!

Yeah sometimes I plug my old Viewsonic P95F+ (1280x960@100hz) and I can see it's still more fluid than my 120hz LCD. The blurriness kills my eyes, though...

What do people think of the return to BF2142 Classes?

AKA Assault, Recon, Engineer, Support?

Apparently Assault will now reincorporate the Medic functionality... oh and Recon's will have to hold their breath to Snipe.

As long as this ends the medic rush, fine.

It would have been great if one member of the 4 man squad was designated as the medic. That would at least encourage tactical game play.

 

Holding a breath key to shoot makes me not bother with sniping!

 

Good news, least now we won't have anyone that can pick-up a sniper and take you out without using some form of skill.

The last game i remember which did this was COD 2!

 

the way to solving medic rush is to remove defib completely, and use a sort of revive mechanism that require both of them to be stationary and vulnerable for 3 seconds or so.

they didn't mention it in that preview, but so far it seems:
Assault: Med packs, assault rifle
Engineer: same SMG, but with a flashlight now
Recon: same sniping, but with breath holding
Support: LMG with suppression ability, perhaps they'll ammo pack? not sure if defib makes a return.

if Assault with noobtube don't get ammo pack, at least that solves one problem.

 

I don't tend to bother with sniping anyway unless there are some enemy snipers I can't get at, so the only way to remove them is by sniping myself.

 

I'll phrase it so i don't hit a "taboo" word in this thread, but i'm pretty sure the more "Modern" sequels in that specific IP have had Breath Holding for quite a while.

I'm not really too bothered by the Sniping change since i was generally a long distance bolt action sniper. I rarely saw that many people quick scoping though? Maybe with an ACOG or Red Dot sight, but then i would have thought the trade-off for essentially being a hunting rifle would have sufficed.

One thing that twigged with me whilst reading about the suppression mechanic is that apparently you're rewarded XP for suppressing enemies? Surely that can be abused to either locate enemies or determine if they're still in position? I mean normally you wouldn't known if an enemy's run away from a piece of cover, but if you're no longer raking in the suppression points then it would be quite obvious.

 

The same criticism can (and should be) leveled at hitmarkers in general. The number of times I have abused this by firing at random into a clump of bushes to find where someone was...

I'm more worried by the thought that the breath holding is going to encourage even more long-distance snipers like yourself, who made BC2 incredibly boring at times. Imagine a game without a sniper rifle and then try to say it would be worse than BC2.

 

as long as VSS or SVU doesn't need holding breath, im happy
