Pfft. If cowboy Bebop isn't mentioned without flashing neon signs reading "EVERYBODY SHOULD WATCH THIS!" surrounding it, then it's invisible as we have conclusively proven through this very thread.

I really liked Akira. Gotta love the Jap weird appeal :thumb:

Another one I'd recommend if you like Akira is Spirited Away and another title that eludes be about a super soldier.

Also, how can you have an anime thread without Fullmetal Alchemist!?

Wing was brilliant don't even go there.

SEED was bad I'll give you that but 00 wasn't that bad.

I agree Unicorn is excellent so far.

I've always enjoyed Guyver (both the "bio-booster" anime and the "Bio-Boosted" reboot a few years ago (hell, I even liked the 2 live action films that were made too)).

You mean, much like that adulterated tripe that I hear about on a regular basis that airs during prime Saturday Morning cartoon time like Yugioh, or Naruto, or Pokemon, or Inuyasha, or whatever the latest fad is?

I don't much care if anyone takes offence to those four being called tripe, because even when I was really into anime, they were still tripe - And still on the same time slots.

Anime, as far as I understood, was purely "Animation with origins in Japan/Japanese culture" - Which does not remove it from the "animated cartoon" grouping, so commonly referred to as - Quite correctly - Cartoons.

I don't understand, nor did I ever, why people got so pissy about calling them cartoons. I could understand calling manga anime or anime manga, being as they are two different things, but calling anime - An animated cartoon - a cartoon is perfectly sound and apt description for the average human that doesn't spend hours a day investigating the minutia of detail surrounding the entire culture these cartoons have.

Wasn't a huge fan of Akira.

I think it's one of those movies that people who wish they knew more about Anime talk about because it's all they know as it went mainstream.. Compared to things like Berserk, Martian Successor Nadesico, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Blue Gender etc. it's... pants.. IMO

I know was so good, loads of cool gadgets and cars and stuff, love the weird shooty knifey thing they have and the collars.

There's loads of good stuff out there, unfortunately theres also a lot of poo (like western TV)
