Motors Seen anything cool on the road lately?

What the, seen one like that and looks really great with black color on it..

 

Another retro car day for me, mint examples of a Sierra XR4i, and a MkII Jaguar (the Inspector Morse one).

 

First car I remember my parents having.. What a thing..

 

I liked the original Cayenne, even though the front bumper wasn't ideal... but this thing looks just right

don't complain about the blur, I took it with my iphone, and I was trying to not cum in my pants

I like it more than the X6M, for the sporty yet very comfy and roomy touring 4x4, that doesn't look like something which hauls double trailers The standard wheels look much better imo, but even like this it's still the sexiest SUV available.

 

That's just hideous. SUV's/Xovers like that should be banned, immediately.

Saw one of these outside the pub last night:


It's a Fiesta 1.3 Supersport, Googling around for the Supersport came up with this. The exact same car! It's no wonder it looked such a minter, it was absolutely perfect throughout, not a mark or speck of dirt on it. You could easily pass it off as brand spanking new. With a 1.6 Xflow engine as well it'll be rather quick.

 

Mmmmmmm. A friend of mine has an absolutely mint XR3i. God I love that car.

It's not anywhere near as fugly as the Toyota FJ cruiser I guess, shame toyota, shame It's unbelievable that the same company that produces the Hilux & Landcruiser crapped out something so wrong

 

I wouldn't say prettier, but certainly infinitely more interesting and with a more focussed purpose.

I'm of the school that the Cayenne is a) an affront to Porsche and b) hideously, fantastically fugly.

Back to the Supersport, a couple of snaps:

Gotta love a decent restoration.

 

Funny how in that restoration, they've replaced the factory exhaust manifold with headers, removed the cold temperature hot air hose, yet retained the factory hot air inlet & plumbing.

Why is it funny? The headers are tuned to flow air at mid to high rpm, compared to the standard exhaust which is only good at low rpm, and the air intake components have been left standard, which are all tuned for low rpm operation.

Bottom line, that motor would be lucky to make significantly more power than standard, and probably have a bit less bottom end torque to boot. I guess the purpose of the headers was just to improve the sound.

The obvious purpose of a Cayenne, is that is a very comfortable yet quite sporty way to travel, including ample 4x4 abilities for the slipperiest sorts of places, that 95% of people would drive to anyway, and all this in a package which is a tribute to the classic Porsche styling.

 

Agreed. But as long as it's keeping Porsche afloat, I'm happy to have it around.

Saw a lovely mint mark 1 golf cycling home tonight with a nice type of turquoisy green pearlesent paint job bbs spokes lowered with a nice chick driving it

 

ah, but, as I have found on The Mini Forum, apparently, the standard airbox on the mini, which is pretty similar to that one, is actually a pretty good filter, with a K&N element in it, its better than a K&N cone filter.

So might not be so daft after all. And, with the crossflow, it sounds AMAZING with a decent exhaust on it. Ours in the TVR spits flames on the over-run,

Also, without knowing what carb that is under there, although chances are its probably the standard one, although it could be a 32/36 or even a 38DGAS (although its a tad big IIRC), with a suitably ported inlet manifold you could easily get it flowing better. Add in a mild cam and you could easily add a few ponies on.

Nothing beats the sound of a pair of 40s though,

Is it the 1.3 crossflow in those? 38DGAS would be too big then I think, 32/36 would probs still work though with the right jetting.

 

Original is the 1.3, this apparently has a 1.6.

 

Saw a Ferrari Enzo on the B3018 between Twyford and Bracknell a few weeks ago

 

If the jetting in the carb is left standard, then yes, a standard air box can perform better, since a K&N cone filter can allow too much airflow. In either case however, the engine is not recieving cold air, which is good for reducing emissions whilst cold, but doesn't help power potential.

Besides the absence of a cool looking and sound improoving air filter, the headers aren't wrapped or polished or coated either, so the chances of any carby or head work are very low imo.

there are debates on the effectiveness of header wrapping, so the car may or may not be losing out on much power by going without. the restorer may have simply chosen to go without because header wrapping can shorten the life of the header by holding moisture against the metal. or maybe the header is ceramic coated, which pretty much eliminates the need for a wrap.

point being, your assuming too much based on what limited info/pics are presented on the vehicle.

at any rate, i would give my left nut to drive something as beautify restored and unique as that car. i love a vehicle that can tastefully stand out in a crowd.

and as for the Cayennes lolful "off-road" capabilities:



i have literally taken my FWD escort through worse. the Cayenne may be "ok" off-road with some decent shoes, but the slicks that porsche puts on them from the factory are useless against anything worse than wet leaves.

You can see the header is not coated in the pic, and I wouldn't assume every car out there with an ugly cold air duct, has had any headwork Who cares if people want to debate basic physics laws, header wrap would cause rust btw, how long do you think that old fantastically fugly bomb would last anyway?

 

im not going to clutter the thread with more youtube videos when you can easily search for them yourself. there are plenty out there.

the header could easily have a black ceramic coating.

the intake duct and car itself being ugly are mere opinions. i think big chrome or red intake tubes look silly, so the factory-esque system used in the restore looks good to me. just because it has a factory reproduction intake doesnt mean the engine wasnt worked over while it was apart.

and given the care and money and no doubt the continued care that went into that restoration, ill bet that "old fantastically fugly bomb" will last longer than your and my vehicles

 

At least another 31 years.
