Looking for a new monitor for about this price, will be used for gaming, films etc.
So far i've found these two :

    iiyama e2407hds-b1

    iiyama e2409hds

Doesn't seem much difference in the specs. Which is better, any reccomendations?

dont know if the HDMI was important to you.

    theres this
Viewsonic VA2448 which is LED lit = £144

    a little cheaper
    Philips 24" at £130

as for the differences between the ones you listed, seems to only be the speakers, and built in ones are generally useless, so not a loss if you went for the other ones (6 quid cheaper, not a huge difference)

I've seen that monitor but i've heard that ips aren't for gaming, when buying budget. As far as that review goes i've just had a quick search on the internet and all the reviews on the monitor seem to be from true_gamer... I just found this however he does say here that he prefers this monitor which i think has recieived bad reviews from some forum members on here.

A response time of 5ms is close to the very best TN monitors (2ms) and would be virtually indiscernible to the human eye. Many people game on monitors with much higher input lag.

True_gamer says that he cannot discern any ghosting on the screen.

    It would be my choice.

I've seen the LG ips in person and they are no contest at that budget. When its a choice between the LG ips and a tn panel at the same price you'd have to be a lunatic not to get the LG.

Aria says stock is due tomorrow, whether or not they actually get stock tomorrow is a completely different matter though. Fingers crossed.

IPS monitors now have overdrive technology to reduce lag etc. Most are well good for gaming, have much betetr colour and viewing angles than TN panels.

Good discussion on TFT central about it - very technical!

    http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/panel_technologies.htm

The difference between the LG screen and the Dell U2311H is not the panels but the back light - Thanks to GoodBytes for this useful bit of info - he posted in my thread here:

For gaming there's no need to go for the Dell, but for photo work it might be important.
