I have been thinking about putting the 275 into retirement after a short stint, however with a budget of £150 give or take a few beer tokens I will be looking for the best possible jump in performance, given my old clunky CPU, grabbing a £200+ card is going to be more of a hinderance until that gets the boot too. I'm fairly useless when it comes to picking apart GPU specs, i'll be much more at home when it comes to that CPU.

    Cards considered so far,

    MSI 6870 HAWK 1GB @ £135

..and that's your lot, any ideas? I do have the ability to run Crossfire but not very well with my current m/b.

If you're up for a multi GPU setup, I'd recommend getting a HD 6850 now, then adding another later on, they're amazing for the price, overclock well, quiet (at least mine is) and take little power, I got mine from 775/4000 to 975/4500. If you don't want to use multiple GPUs, you could always just get a 6850 and overclock, for the most part it can exceed the 6870's performance for cheaper.

Edit: I dunno how the prices are where you are, but the GTX 460 1GB is around the same price as the 6850 here, so that makes another alternative if you'd rather nVidia.

Save up a bit longer and get a 2gb 6950 and flash the bios to a 6970. You save money by spending money. Plus you can crossfire this bad boy in the future and your the king. Plus you can run 6 monitors off one card. If you want to that is

Thanks but £200 is way to much to mess around on cod4 and I simply don't have room on my desk anyway.

    I think I'm going to go with a gigabyte 560 OC :)

I'd say you can't go wrong with that 6870. It's pretty good value for money really, and you may have some overclocking to come

The 6870 is ok but id put a bit more towards it and try and get a little more power.

    I'd say a GTX560 Ti is a better option.

agree with this +1 I know your in NI but scan (don't know if they ship to you) have 560Ti's for £173, for Asus Direct CU 560 Ti, and they might be cheaper than that if you keep your eyes pealed for today only deals

If you don't hang around too long Scan have the HD 6870 Black on offer at the moment - £126.82. It's the today only deal though so it'll be gone by 3PM tomorrow (I think). Might get one myself.

That is a great deal, the discount is huge, certainly the card would usually retail for over £150.00 and is comparable if not better than the 560 ti in most situations.

Thanks, i'm swayed towards the 6870 at the moment as the transition to AMD would be nice, just to test the water on the other side. Not to mention if I ever did fancy a multi GPU setup, perhaps for folding, I have that option with my current hardware.

You might want to order it quickly then, I think the offer ends at 3pm today.
