I'm just curious what that quad core one performs like compared to SB quads...

indeed! edit: 3960 is extreme obviously, 3930 will be an unlocked multiplier, but not a extreme chip, and 3820 will just be bog standard

Now if we could just get a leaked release date or if they will come out this year or next. That would be very helpful information indeed!

new leaks of performance spec. this time it is on the high end core i7 3960X. links and pics below

notice how the 6 core 3930 is a "K" processor, however Intel seems to differentiate it from the EE version by the "X" for the 3960.

sure its only synthetic benchmarks but it does give some sort of image

    Hmmm.

Even at lower clocks it's outperforming its predecessor, by a circa 15% margin in synthetics - That's a good sign!

Hey petey, how far have you gotten with that chip?

Oh btw, apparently the LGA2011 3960k is $999 MSRP.

    Yeah, I'll pass on this.

4.2GHz @ ~1.35V :waah: The bad luck continues. I should've just bought ANOTHER Classified board for my 920.

Call me weird but even though LGA1366 is supposed to be slower, it seemed to be 'smoother'.

Ah yes, but the 3930, which is an unlocked chip, but not an extreme processor, should be cheaper, I HOPE! Otherwise I might be jumping ship, or waiting for ivy bridge. Or I might have to start saving my money NOW!

Thats nothing to shout about when you consider just how good SB is already. Maybe in heavily threaded apps it'll out run it and thats where it's aimed at.

The 3930 won't be that much cheaper. Not being pessimistic but look back to the whole i7 990x/980x v i7 970.

Yes it was cheaper, half price even, but at a whopping $500 it's still not exactly obtainable or practical for most of us. :(

I wonder how much IB will be? On the bright side, all I need is a new processor unless Intel plays that old socket switcharoo on us and makes a LGA1157.

Ah yeah I know, I was thinking it's going to be like the 980x when it came out $999, and the 970 idk $800 probably? Oh well I better start saving my pennies :) :( oh well on a brighter note thank god there's a load of overtime at work this month :D

Intel shouldn't do a socket change, as ivy bridge chips should drop straight into lga 1155 boards with a bios update, but you will have a newer chipset to agonise over ;D
