Kill Bill has an absolutely amazing soundtrack- it's so varied and fits the scenes perfectly, IMO. I used to listen to the soundtrack years before I saw the film (as I wasn't old enough to see it upon release, and dad would play the CD all the time in the car). Perhaps that's just nostalgia kicking in, but I really love that soundtrack.

That reminds me of quite a few conversations from my high school days.

Kid: Hey, what music do you like.
    Me: Clannad.
    Kid: Who?
    Me: Irish music.
    Kid: What?
Me: Theme song from Last of the Mohicans.
    Kid: Huh?
Me: Theme song from Patriot Games.
    Kid: Oh. (walks away)

:jawdrop: No one has mentioned Yann Tiersen yet. (or did I miss it maybe...)

The soundtrack of Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain (or "Amélie", in English theaters) was simply awesome. Beautiful music, really.

This song always makes me feel somewhat nostalgic...

    Whoops, you did indeed.

I have Flashblock on so I couldn't see the title of the clip (and I didn't take the effort to watch the video...), but I knew Goodbye Lenin sounded familiar somehow (never seen it myself).

    Hmmm interesting Topic.

Howard shore for the lord of the rings. The black rider theme is my favourite.

Basil Poledouris - Conan the Barabarian. Actually a film that I really like.

I love choirs as you can see..

I like "Kitarô". He is a Japanese composer. He used to be very well know in the 80's. Don't know what happened to him. Anyway, for an asian twist, here's one I like from the movie Between heaven and earth:

The music from the Inception ad by Zack Hemsey (I am sure somenone posted b4):

Hans zimmer made Batman (both), Inception, Black Hawk Down, Gladiator, The Last Samurai, Pirates of the caribbean, Pearl Harbor.

    Don't Think About Elephants:

He also made some of the modern warfare 2 music:

    Crysis 2:

Gotta love this guy! He mix very well a classical orchestra with modern instruments and synthetizers. He won several awards both in films and with his compositions and, as i read, is one of the 100 "alive genius".

Speaking of games, I think this thread could be expanded to games too. There are some REALLY good music in games.

I LOOOVE this tune! Alice madness retuns:

Heres another one I like too (but not love):

As a side note (not music related) watch the Hysteria Mode

Back to choirs this is probably my all time fav!! Really LOVE this music. It really brings me tears:

    BTW I HATE the game!

Jesper Kyd is a great game music composer. Anyone that like the main theme for blade runner might like this one. Not because they look like, but the construction reminds me:

Vegas from blood money. Another good one:

The name of the composer for this music is Kevin something (this one was really hard to remember and find in youtube):

By Matt uelmen, Diablo II - Outtake II (unreleased). Must See:

Tristan village. A bit disconected, but very interesting score:

For a blast from the past one of the best midis ever made for a game!

For a fan made piano (with some little slips) check here.

Another blast from 1986. WAAAAAAYYY ahead of pc. The MSX classic Knight Mare from Konami. It is a 3 channel midi music, so don't expect much. Unfortunatelly, the only music I've found is from the gameplay with all effects:

I could go on and on, but I doubt anyone would read it, so let's stop here :D

Huh, i didn't even realise Hans did the Crysis 2 theme. Makes all kinds of sense though.

There's already a thread for game soundtracks here, take a look.

"Lebanon" was a film set inside an Isreali tank; intense, claustrophobic sound design / soundtrack.

On a different note, Sylvain Chomet's films (Belleville Rendezvous & The Illusionist) are also defined to a large extent by great soundtracks.

    No-one's mentioned 2001 yet. Philistines :p

As for games... Thief... Amnesia... Monkey Island 2 :D

Also, maybe OT but absolutely essential viewing:

:duh: how could I miss this one

Somehow I was sure you would have something to add!

Anyway another contribution, Resident Evil, Marilyn Manson:

The guy have some good music, and besides Ditta Von Teese, a bad taste. Well I guess people have to earn money with lots of crap...

    Seeing as we're doing games...

Concentrate by nervous_testpilot for Frozen Synapse

And the Arma 2 main menu tune:

    Edit: I almost forgot this!

Gore from Soldat (surely some of you have played it?)

Out of all the soundtracks I have, Rules of Attraction probably gets the most playtime.
