Just read that review and I'm really surprised at the out come, especially as my UD3 will spin my chip to 4.3Ghz more at a push. Maybe you've just got a dodgy chip that doesn't like to be overclocked.

That said I've got the cooling to take the high overclocks. Also my bench mark scores are higher than yours and I haven't finished tweaking yet.

Or is it that the AM3+ borads are totally geared towards Bulldozer and that where they'll really start to shine...

Other sites are cheaper than the one you have listed as cheapest..

Take ocuk for example. Its £189.98 inc there...

All these rumours buzzing about the place about the second 4 CPUs being released after Christmas including top of range fx-8170p and they can't even get the first 4 CPUs out.

@ Bit-tech staff, what did you think of the hardocp.com review of this board? Did you encounter the issues they did? I ask because they said it was one of the worst motherboards they ever worked with (!!!), what with numerous silly issues and memory and overclocking issues. In effect they said it was awful and not ready to be released onto the buying public :S

P.S. The review was 'done' but not released some 4 weeks ago on an old BIOS version. F3 I think. What version did you test with?

    Thanks.

Bulldozer looks to be replaced by piledriver... Im guessing a flop CPU which means all AM3+ boards could be a waste over the older AM3 units.

I know the new Bulldozer "APUs" are in the latest issue of CPC, but are they on bit-tech? I've yet to pick up my copy but find it suprising that there's a motherboard review before the actual CPUs :?.

    Maybe i've missed it somewhere.

They are llano not bulldozer, there are no bulldozer APUs. APUs use older phenom K10 architecture.

Wha?!?! Where did you get this information from? AMD's Bulldozer chips don't even have an official release date yet, let alone any reviews out.

There is a review of the GD80 in the current issue of Custom PC. It may make it onto bit-tech but we have some other boards from the same group test that we want to put up first.

Pretty sure he's confusing Llano (APU, GPU+CPU on die) and Bulldozer (high end CPU only).

    Yes.. unfortunately i am -.-'.

God, i've never been confused by Hardware... i must be getting old (at 21)... or it's just confusing.

I was mistaking something James said in the last issue about a new era of CPUs (APUs and Integrated Graphics), the "Next-gen" AMD CPU reviews promised in the next issue (this issue) and didn't realise that we were on about a whole other level of architecture.

Let's just get this clear, is Bulldozer the FM1 socket?

No, Bulldozer is the family name for a new series of desktop and workstation/server CPUs that AMD hasn't launched yet. However, you can already buy motherboards for the desktop version, if it is Socket AM3+.

Llano on the other hand is an APU, and uses Socket FM1.

So pretty much a no no because it fails in so many levels for its range. I might give it a second chance when bulldozer comes out because it may shine with them but until then it's a kind of a fail
