Scan seems to have it cheaper than your quote, at £639.98, maybe you could use this as a starting point in your dell negotiations?
Yeah amazon do it for £642 but it only has a one year warranty and no panel replacement policy so the dell price is best really.... Just wish it was less!
Dell pays back shipping if you don't like it.. (I don't know how many days you have.. I thin 5 or 7 in the UK. 21 in Canada and U.S) I don't know about restock fees policy, if any... but I think you can negotiate your way out of them, if there are any.
+1 for the u2711. its a cracking monitor had one for about 6mths and no issues whatsoever. used it for gaming (have to drop resolution to 1920x1080 on bfbc2 with my rig). great for having multiple windows open at a time, eg working on multiple documents with a web page on the side but its real value is watching movies. love renting dvds and kicking back - fantastic colours and contrast.
I am sure it will rock my world currently gaming on a 40" Sony Bravia LED TV which is epic but I am starting to feel bad about my awesome girlfriend watching stuff on her laptop whilst I use the TV every night.... I did consider a multi monitor set up but there just seems to be a few issues plus I have a GTX 570 so not the best option.... If its not enough then guess I will just have to get 2 x U2410's to sit either side of it
Multi monitor is vastly overhyped and overrated - it's great for some things, but overkill for most things. Give me a single 27" or 30" for gaming and I'd be happy, but I need my two 24" screens for work.
What do I do with the other half of the screen whilst I am not gaming?! I thought the resolution was poo until I realised it was the quality of the back ground image
LOL, my dad does that on his 1920 x 1080 monitor and then comes to ask me why there's such a vast difference between my background and his
get some awesome wallpapers if you haven't already here: http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/downloads/date/widescreen/2560x1440/ and do that colour profiling steps posted above, configure your monitor to Adobe RGB. then sit back and enjoy vivid colours. don't forget to reduce brightness, my is at 0 and still a bit too bright.... game mode isn't worth it, you'll loose colour accuracy and dynamic contrast gets enabled.
I have now set my U2711 to adobe RGB from GAME mode! Should I just leave it now and enjoy further as to be honest GAME mode looks good enough to me.
Been using www.wallbase.cc for my wallpaper but thanks. Will set up the colours tomorrow when I am not so tired!
Now install and play Homeworld 2! Looking forward to playing 'From Dust' on the U2711, games well placed to take advantage of the lush colours.
