Havent been on in a few days so Im very glad to hear that you grandad is doing well, My grandad just turned 95 those old people are pretty tuff and he probably wont go untill he is good and ready. So wish him the best of luck. Sorry to hear about the pump but you have a great attitude about it. I would try the the impeller out of the new one to see if the alu is the cause or its the pump it self and not the combination. The set back is only temporary Keep your head up.

Wow, just read through this while checking over my shoulder to make sure my boss isn't looking at what I'm doing. Incredible! And It think I got away with it.

I'm not sure how the aluminum and the magnet is a bad idea? :)

And again, I have no idea how to check what went wrong. I'm not able to take it apart... So I'll hope for the best and just make a new one! :)

If you find me a fish that can live in engine coolant that works within the range of -15 - +40 degrees centigrade, I'd almost say we have a deal!

    But thanks man! :thumb:

    Thank you sir! :)

Well, noone lives forever! :) As long as he's in no pain, and is playing with a full deck of cards, all is well! :)

I actually tested the old stock impeller I have, and the result is the same... Unfortunately!

 Always look on the bright side of life, eh? :)

    Thanks a lot! :)

Thanks sir! :) And I hope you did get away with it. (Since I'm not your boss, I'm okay with it! )

The new pumps should be on their way from the US tomorrow. So right now I'm playing the waiting game. And so will you, as I have 3 weeks of vacation starting friday!

Right now I'm about to figure out the position of the holes to mount everything in the car! As soon as I get over the fact that I, yet again, did not get nominated to MOTM! :( Damn all the skilled modders in here! :hehe:

    Very solid work done!
    Re: pump few thoughts:
    1. It can be good idea to check friction between moving parts of the pump. Original impeller can “fly” over the bed, and moded one can touch the base by accident. It can be enough to stop rotation.
    2. It’s also good to check the exact center of new impeller; lack of centering can also be an issue.
Good luck in you fantastic job!

    Thanks for the tips. But:

    1. The internals of the pump has not been tampered with as such. The bottom part of the impeller still sits in it's original place. I've even put a small teflon disc at the bottom to make absolutely sure nothing is touching! :)

    2. Since I've set the aluminum top on the magnetic part, and both parts have been made in a lathe, there is no way I am more than 0.03-0.04 mm from the original center. And since we're not talking any high speed pump, I don't think this can make any difference! :)

But as I sais, I got 2 new pumps, so I'm hoping to get on with this soon. Still on vacation so I'm guessing that in a weeks time I should be ready for another try! :)

And thank you for your kind words! :thumb:

    Thanks man! :thumb:

I'd love to see the working result too!

    Give me a week - 10 days! :)

In a way, I'm envious of your problems. I have yet to play with any water cooling. I want to have your troubles, good sir.

Well... I don't really know how to reply to this...

Sometimes I have a love/hate feeling about my OCD that compells me to watercool everything I see! :)

    Ty very much! :)

Small update is coming later today.

Congrats man! Yeah, there is nothing as addictive than fiddling with a carpc! And all the posibilities! Endless! :thumb:

Wait just one more hour! :)

I owe you nothing good sir! For you jinx me!

If my car breaks down, the burning bag of poo will be on your doorstep soooon!

Darn... Can I then throw a bananapeel in front of his door!?

    Small update!

Feels like a rerun, since I did it all once. Except for cleaning out the pumphouse... :)

    But here goes:

One of the new pumps I bought, and bottom of the old one. Tried to get to it to see if there was any signs of ... well... anything that would explain why it didn't work. Nope!

Finished milling out the internals of the old pump.
THIS is a modded pump!

Started milling away all that is not supposed to be there, Hello impeller:

Done milling the pump and the bottom is cleaned out:

And it's glued in place... Tomorrow I'll cut away the excess.

And then we'll see what happens. I sure as heck have my fingers crossed that it works this time! :)

Btw. I got nominated for MOTM!

Thanks for supporting my work, and thx to those who wish to cast a vote for me! :)

You got my vote :thumb:, With that impeller you made does the magnet still enter the pump housing to the same depth as the original as I know from experience that if the magnet is not in the exact right place in relation to the stator in the housing it don't work.
