    That sounds... impractical.

The "HQ" has been a staple of Battlefield games, hit escape and you've got full access to the server browser, soldier stats, friends list, etc. all while remaining in game. It was bad enough in BC2 where you had to leave a server to access the server browser. What does one have to be smoking to think it's a good idea to make people leave the game window to access a basic feature of the game?

Why do developers feel the need to change the formula ? It has worked for years, it'll work again ! Stop changing things !

Yet again.... the Beta will show how it works.

I actually quite liked the browser launcher. I'll only be playing on one server, ZiiP, but perhaps the CPC/Bit-Tech one from time to time as well, so it affects me less.

I can understand that this could be annoying to some people, but personally I've found that I'd usually play a round out at least before swapping servers when playing any Battlefield game, regardless of how poorly it's going. Unless of course it's a ping issue.

    Greetings!
Some months ago I was hyped about this game, now I am just disappointed.

    As I posted elsewhere:
Remember when this still was the game made and thought to PC first?
Guess there was no way to live to the hype.

going by the alpha impression, there's nothing wrong with this. in fact, it works really well. so well, the game loads minimised, play a ready sound for you so you can join the battle by clicking on BF3 in the task bar.

the game loads same speed as BFBC2 as far as i can make out, so very fast. with no EA/DICE logo to go through, this browser-launch method is actually faster to get into the game.

After having a look online the general consensus among alpha players is the same as yourself, they feel it works well and if anything is an improvement over the old "in-game" method.

I guess when the Beta rolls around next month we'll get to experience it hands on but it may turn out not be such bad news after all.

It's like anything new I suppose.... takes a bit of getting used too.

At 1st with the Alpha I was like WTF is this battlelog shite ! After playing for around 20 hours it was just the norm.

    i didn't use in-game VOIP.

but i do know in-game text chat was messed up in alpha, appears in a window, but disappears and no way to get it back. the chat window appears over the killfeed on the right, instead of on the top-left corner like in BFBC2. should be fixed by beta or a patch later, it's only a minor problem.

VOIP however, sounds like mumble is the only way forward. ah well.

So when does the beta start? (not that I'm getting involved, I just want to know hardware requirements)

what's this problem of having programs running in the background?

Usually, no problem. Sometimes I even leave Panzer Corps minimized while playing another game.
But Battlefield 3 seems to break some records just to play the game. Origin to check for updates, Battlelog for the BF3 social side, Mumble to speak, Steam to keep track of friends, ...

    Beta is coming when?

Might pick up a 480 or a 570 gtx for this. My 275 will struggle.
