    @LennyRhys Those are some nice sunset pics. I especially love the first one with the column. I'd be prob too lazy to get out to capture my town in such a nice way. Good Job!

    @CrazyKid035 Where did you go boating? St. Lawrence River by any chance?

    @OleJ Nice to see you back!! I like 1 & 3 a lot. But then the Baboon blew me away! Awesome picture, I've gotten an interesting pondering look from a Gorilla, but the lighting that you captured is a million times better than mine. Awesome!

    @October, what is Capernwray? Looks like some beautiful university

    I myself drove to Catskills... a mountainous area 3hrs from where I live.

    If you enlarge the second picture, you can see the WSO waving at us. Before he left, I asked him if he'd put on a show for us (the F/A-18F wasn't scheduled to perform on Sunday) and he said he would if the ATC tower cleared it. I guess they did and we were the only ones waiting for him to take off after the show, so we got a private little three-pass affair. :D

    @jezmck and CMW: thanks.

    It's really interesting to pop back in here once in a while and see how good people have become.
    I clicked through 30 or so pages and I have to congratulate each and one of you on the skills you've acquired.
    It's also really great to see how each of you have a personal expression and how it gets better and better.
    A big applause from me to you all. And I'll probably post again in a few months (give or take 6 ;-) ).

    Oh dude you're in NY now?! Bugger that its raining. But anything is fun to photograph in NY.
    If you want touristy skyline photos Go up to TOP OF THE ROCK from Rockefeller Plaza instead of Empire State Building. That way there are no bars & its more spacious. Besides that it has everything you want. Interesting People/buildings/cars urban landscapes so it depends on what you're in to.

    Those are some beautiful shots dude! +rep

    Capernwray Hall is a former private home mansion that is now used as a Christian conference centre, holiday resort and Bible school. I've never been over at it myself but people I know that have been there tell me it's a beautiful place, as you can see from Oct's photos.

    More Information on Capernwray

    Had some spare time to play around in the studio the other afternoon... here's what I came up with.

    [IMG]

    Single shot on black background, 1 strobe with small 30cm softbox front right (parallel to the edge with the ports) at 1/4 power and another behind a diffuser directly opposite at 1/16 power

    Cut out and spotted.

    Thanks Lenny - the process of experimenting is always worthwhile when the time is available! My only annoyance with this was the placement of the lid in relation to the keyboard... If I'd had more time on this afternoon, I would've perfectly aligned the lid so there weren't keys growing out of it. :)

    I've got a job tonight photographing the interior of a redeveloped (£1m) church building - lots of possibilities with £20,000 worth of high grade lighting at my fingertips, so I'll hopefully get some nice shots that I can share with the forum.

    I really don't take many pictures these days... such is the life of a self-employed photographer (you wouldn't think it, but it's true). :thumb:

    In the meantime, I got this from my wife for my birthday so thought I'd set up the white background and snap a couple :D

    @LennyRhys - Big congratulations on getting the gig! Can't wait to see what you do with the lighting.

    @Tim S - I personally love your 'Hope Valley Gloom' a lot, the Early Autumn Ashes don't tickle me.

    @Ligoman17 - I love the layers in the first two pics, the last one not so much. But I would like to see it if you cropped it showing the stairs more & making more of an focal point somewhere.

    @shigllgetcha - Cute puppy :D damn
