Well, now I boot in 30 seconds. Remember it's an old 2 Ghz P4, 400 mhz fsb.
This also includes my wireless usb internet connection.

The hdd I pulled was a 7200 rpm 2,5". That did the boot in 55 secs.

Not gonna run HORM since it's a carpc. Don't want to drain the battery if it sits for too long! :)

But that WOULD give an insane boot time! :)

The SSD is a RunCore RCP-IV-p2532-MC

Google turns up several stores, here's one:

    http://www.futurestorage.co.uk/product/RCP-IV-P2532-MC_32GB_Pro_IV_2.5_inch_IDE_(MLC)_1363

(The pic shows the 256BG version, that's not the one I got! )

I have a laptop next to me and I did a boot time test.
Laptop (Dell Latitude X200) main specs are: Pentium 3 @933MHz, 1GB ram, Intel 82830 integrated GPU, Hitachi Travelstar 5k80 40GB 5400rpm.

    Boot time 35 seconds.

    Running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS :naughty:

    JA12 <- Heh... Touche!

Well, I told you I would make a little plaque if I got nominated for MOTM, so I did. :)

    In the mill:

First look after the protective film is taken off... Houston, we have a scratch! :wallbash: I actually think it's inside the piece itself, because I cannot for the love of me see it on the back!

I guess I have to make a new one, which is fine as I messed up the measurements anyways!

But just to have a quick glance at it in the case. Sorry about the missing light, it get's dark quick in the afternoon now:

Well, at least I know what I'll be doing after work friday! :)

    C ya then! :)

I still think "1st place" is what should be on that plate. Anyways, that won't take the shine off of it.
It's a pity though that it gets hidden like that - people should be able to observe your creations.
Next one gets attached on to the wall to compensate? Perhaps you could make it show pictures of this build :D

Im trying to think if there is any type of machining you don't have proven yourself to master but I can't think of any.

I bet youre even a pro at knitting.

    Anyway, top notch stuff.

LOL... Havn't tried knitting since kindergarden! But mind you, I was actually pretty good at it! :)
But thanks for the very kind words! :thumb:

I agree, "1st place" would have been nice! :) But with the frikkin competition in here it's almost impossible to get that honor! :)

I do believe that the next build will be my girlfriends pc. But once this is finished, I'm gonna take a good break from modding, untill it pulls me back in within a few months! :)

    Thanks man! :)

Thank you very much Waynio! :)

That's a very nice compliment! thx! :thumb:

Got a little work in yesterday.

First up I had to make a small part to lengthen the inlet on the CPU block as it was not really sitting in a perfect spot.

And tadaaaaaa, ye olde engine coolant! Gonna mix it up 1:2 with water. That should be in the clear for the temps we have here:

And just a quick test of how the liquid looks. Gonna be hell filling it without a fillport but I have an idea. Hopefully the geniousness (or lack of) of my idea should come to life tomorrow!

    C ya then! :thumb:

Thank you very much! Yeah, it took a whole day to fill it!

So the update as follows! :)

The way I decided was the only one to fill the system, was to get down and dirty with it.

Cut open a 1½ liter bottle and filled it half with the 50/50 mix of engine coolant and water.
Then I dumped in the radiator which is the outlet on this build, and the inlet tube.

(yeah, I superglued a couple of small candles on it to make sure it kept balance! )

Then I was able to get most of the air out of the system.

Plugged it back together while the whole thing was submerged in liquid.

Then I took the whole thing and tilted left and right, up and down, to get the last air out of the reservoirs. (Still anoyed they never got back to me with a quote for glass pipes for the reservoir. Could have looked insane, and I would have been able to see the air in there)

The air appeared in the pump:

Did this 5-6 times untill no air came out anymore.

I wiped the radiator, and decided to let it blowdry:

Then I mounted the curved front:

Mounted the aluminum front on that:

    A view from the top:

Slapped the top on, just for at quick peak at the finished result:

All that is left now is to make the cable for the pump a bit longer and sleeve it. Then it's time for a last clean and then I'll try to take some better pics for you.

Should be getting this done during the week! :)

I totally agree with Wayne, it seems such a shame to put a cover on it let alone hide it away. It's looking totally awesome dude.

One thing I have noticed though, is that you're the first modder I've come across thats actually worried about keeping his rig warm...lol

Glad to see you got it filled, hopefully you wont need to take it apart again anytime soon lol. Its looking great though :thumb:, is a shame it wont be seen. What are you gonna do to prevent condensation on all the parts during a cold night?
