and yes there's a downtime this morning. which fixes some laggyness with multiplayer and some SLI crashing?

 

Just wanted to comment on the destructoid review. Normally I respect any reviewers opinion even if I don't agree, but when it comes to Jim from destructoid that goes out the window. Over the months I've been visiting that site I've come to view him as a completely biased anti-ea, anti-origin blowhard that jumps on every internet hate bandwagon. The comment alone about vehicle dominated mp is enough to show me that he missed something.

 

Glad I don't care at all about singleplayer, that'd be more than a little annoying.

Multiplayer, on the other hand, is just part of the Battlefield experience having EA Master Server problems right when you really want to play.

I don't even want to know how slow of a DVD drive or how fast of a connection you must have to pull that off! While I was installing from disk Origin was displaying a "Download Speed" or 8.5MB/s, my 20Mbps connection is lucky to get 2MB/s. More than four times faster isn't exactly "about as fast"! I admit their servers were quite fast when downloading the 500MB update, though for a service run by a massive publisher hosting only a handful of games and only one of which being frequently downloaded I'd expect no less.

 

Amazon still havent dispatched mine yet.....Should i be worried?!

Nope, UK release isn't until Friday - so it'll be sent out tomorrow for delivery then.

The only reason the others in the thread are playing is because they exploited the time-zone activation process, by way of proxy.

If you've a faster connection you can get 10MB+

Helps with crossfire flickering and also improved GPU performance

More or less, the difference between bits and bytes is just multiplying or dividing by eight depending on direction. Theoretically a 20Mbps connection would translate to 2.5MBps so I'm falling a little short, but that's expected as nothing's perfect in the world. To get 8.5MBps you'd need a 68Mbps connection minimum (again assuming a perfect world). Maybe Dragunov does indeed have such a fast connection but that's certainly not the norm and as such his comment would be a little misleading.

edit: lotsa complaints about hardcore mode. i havent tried it myself, but u do get minimap, some kind of spotting, and other stuff that doesnt really make hardmode.... hardmode.... anybody try it?

 

Out of curiosity. Can you play the "back to Karkand" expansion now or does it get released later? I thought it came with the game on launch but i have heard no news about it.
