Well, title says it all really. If I go into msconfig and uncheck it, when I next restart my PC it has enabled again. The specific program is called PPS Booster or something like that. I use PPS to stream Chinese TV and I know that this specific booster basically is used to preload stuff when PPS isn't running. Trouble is, that means it's using my bandwidth all the time. At the moment I'm having to kill the process every time I start up, but it's quite tedious. Is there a more permanent way to stopping programs at startup? (PPS doesn't have to run for this "background" program to activate).
Try CCleaner - there is an option there not only to disable a startup program but to delete the entry altogether. Once in CCleaner, go to Tools > Startup.
