    Finite Element Analysis.

Looking good, Achron. You decided what to do about the exterior yet?

Why did my nipples get hard when I saw this picture?:worried:
-If you left the mounting tabs 1/4" thick, you wouldn't need the analysis.:D

    Creepy...:eyebrow:

If I left the tabs 1/4" thick, it wouldn't look as pretty :hehe:.

I apologize for not clarifying things, last night it was late and I was pretty tired.

The blue bracket you see in the pictures is the one that came with the heatsink. This one did not work, as it hit the SATA port you see in another picture.

My next thought was to take another one of these plastic brackets (orange) and chop it up into what you see above. The blue bracket would then sit on top of the orange bracket, thus clearing the SATA port. However, I realized that the deflection of the bracket would be too much in this configuration.

Then, I decided to make an aluminum bracket (the sexiness that you now see ).

    Hope that clarifies.

Also, FEA (Finite Element Analysis) is a way to computationally solve for the stress, deflection, heat transfer, etc. in things using tiny little 'elements' inside of the body. Each element has a corner, and these corners, or nodes, are where the stresses, deflections, etc. are solved for. Put them all together a couple hundred thousand times and you get a result that can be applied to the entire body. I use SolidWorks Simulation for this.

Thanks for sticking with it guys .

Me too! I'm a little nervous about the anodizing. They said it should be done Monday, so I guess we will see then.

    Thanks you two ;).

    Happy Turkey Day!

    Yeah yeah.

A little side note here. I'm never really satisfied with anything, it's just how I am. Perfection is my goal, and while I never really reach it, sometimes I feel I come close. The following pictures are an example of one of those times (in my mind). They came out exactly how I wanted. Not even that...they came out better than I had expected.

So for all you bastages telling me to hurry...patience is king ! It was well worth the wait.

    Enjoy.
