So the Gf says what do i want for xmas and i have decided a monitor now i can get Dell at good price so im a bit stuck as to what to do.. 3x U2311 1x u2410 1x u2711 i do a bit of gaming and web design and want to start doing a bit of photo editing video editing. So it has to be a good all rounder. Help me
U2311H is discontinued, replaced with the U2412 (same thing but with white LED's as back light and cheaper stand) 2x U2312 will be very demanding for your GPU Same for the U2711. Resolution is very high for both setup. 1x bigger screen is better for gaming, as all games will properly support it. While the triple monitor setup, give you more work space horizontally. It depends on you. U2410 is in between both... you have the cool features of the U2711, mixed with the small size monitor, in the sense that the monitor is lower resolution, which will be much less of a problem for your GPU at playing games, and it's 16:10, which provides you good work space (Well it doesn't really mater for now on the U2711 as the resolution is much higher), but does, in my opinion, over 16:9 1920x1080 (assuming comparing 1x monitor setup for both). I can't say for 2x or 3x 1080p display setup with heavy multitasking, I never tried it.
Well he has 'next build i5 2500k' in his sig so I'll assume he won't be using the 6750 for gaming. If not I'd go for the biggest one you can afford. I have a panel similar to the 2410, and frankly its brilliant. I'd like a U2711, but I can't afford it, or the GPU required to drive it in games.
If you can squeeze a little more 2 x U24 would be a good move. As you can use one for gaming at decent fps. Then when you are in work mode use the two, makes a big difference it's as good as having two PC's.
Ah but I'm a graphics whore and I almost exclusively play BF3. I can run it in Ultra with FXAA at 1200p but I doubt I could go much higher and still maintain 50+ fps in MP.
GPU can be upgraded, Im constantly changing things and if i need to change GPU i will do. Girlfriend wants to buy my a screen for Xmas so ill let her lol. Im still no closer to deciding lol
+1 Funny how this one is often overlooked - probably its price. I considered (and came very close to getting) the U2711, but I simply cannot stand the pixel pitch even though it's a very nice monitor. U3011 incoming when I sell some of my gear...
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/hazro_hz27wa.htm Hazro seems to get good reviews given how much cheaper it is than the comparable dells.
I can feel a U3011 coming on when I get my bonus next year.... And I will be selling the U2711. I just want the extra height.
I found it for £420 when the Dell U2410 on Scan is £430. I can get a brand new Dell U2410 for £330 though so i doubt ill get something better value..
Glossy, non adjustable stand, and lots of reports of 0 after sale services, minimum monitor OSD options.. I think it's no.
I'm not saying its as good a a U2711 but it does cost £400 rather than £600. That's kind of what that review says basically.
