Windows explorer.exe crashing

    im using windows 7 ultimate fully up to date, getting windows not genuine message but that isnt bothering me...

    when trying to access 1 or 2 certain directories my explorer.exe crashes
    these directories have got media files inside, including .mkv files etc.....
    and i get this information in the crash message:

    i cant find anything usefull on google about it
    hope sombody could help before i end up wiping and reinstalling everything lol

    Is it all windows updated? Only time I have seen this is again on Win 7 Ult - fake copy and windows update wouldnt run so it was the vanilla copy.

    Kept doing the same - told customer to either buy it or downgrade back to Xp which the machine came with.

    Looks like the divx media handler is causing it to me. Uninstall the divx codec pack.

    from what i remeber divx has recently downloaded a new update so yea maybe it is that, ill try this 1st then if not i guess ill be re installing windows 7 and de-activating windows updates, thanks guys

    just searched this file "DivXMFSource.dll"
    in this directory: C:\Program Files\DivX\DivX Plus Media Foundation Components

    deleted this file now....explorer.exe doesnt crash anymore while searching my system... thanks alot lysol ur advice worked :clap:
