    Hi,
    I'm about to start buying the parts for my new build and I wanted advice on some of the parts. My budget is about £750, including a monitor. I will want to game in the future but not right now. I may of missed something stupid like not having enough SATA cables or something, so if I have please tell me.

    CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K
    Mobo: Asus P8Z68-V LX
    RAM: Corsair XMS3 4GB (2X2GB)
    SSD: Crucial RealSSD M4 64GB
    HDD: ??? Price is sooooo expensive-Maybe an external for My Documents
    PSU: Antec High Current Gamer 520 watts
    Case: Antec 300
    CPU Cooler: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
    ODD: Samsung S222AB DVD Reader
    Monitor: AOC i2353Fh 23in IPS-(Ghosting???)
    OS: Window 7 Home Premium 64 bit

    Also a "Coolermaster SickleFlow Case Fan-120mm" to add to the front of the case.
    I will want to add a "Gainward GeForce GTX 560 Ti Golden Sample" later on next year for games.

    Will I have enough power for the graphics card or will I need a bigger PSU. Im very tight on money and all this scrapes in at £750 without the graphics. If I can get stuff cheaper please let me know.

    What about a 650W TruePower New? It's £61.
    I'd also go for a Antec 100 over the 300.

    He wont need 650w, 500 will be plenty.


    You will need a HDD of some kind. If youve got one currently then just use that until prices return to sanity.

    Otherwise the setup looks good. If u want to game next year buy the latest generation then, should be out in first half of the yea from both sides.

    The antec 100 is an updated version of the 300, but im not sure whats different :)

    Never heard of that monitor though, maybe better off with the 23" lg ips that most recommend here (for a cheapish ips screen).

    I agree, a decent branded 500w willl be enough - if the psu budget is around £60 i'd get the Truepower. Can vouch for the 520w high current gamer though, had it a year always overclocked and its rock solid.

    Get the Antec 100! Slightly cheaper, better lay out, way prettier plus its also black inside which is incredibly important ofcourse ! :)

    I'd consider getting 8gb (2x4gb)1600mhz memory kit, brings it over budget but for £10-£15 extra it's worth it imo.

    Haven't read any reviews of that monitor but i'd be weary of cheap entry level ips monitors. I just bought a friend of mine a LG ips236v after being assured it was good for gaming from reviews. It clearly lags when playing Deus ex and Skyrim, when you turn quickly you get a shutter effect. They look fantastic for image and colour representation but for gaming they are not good enough.

    That AOC may be good and not suffer from it, check as many reviews as you can. If you specifically want IPS for apps like photoshop and 3d with a better refresh rate for gaming spend about £200 on one. If you can't stretch the budget and gaming is more important get a high refresh rate 2ms TN panel monitor.

    Lastly, dunno where you're buying from but check out scan.co.uk today only deals. They do alot of decent self build combo's and bundles, especially good deals to be had at weekends.

    Really? Did you alter any driver and osd settings? He's using it through the dvi with a Ati 6870.

    All I did was plug it in(DVI), do some colour calibration, then use it. I'm on a GTX460, with frame rates (on skyrim) around 60fps, no noticeable lag.

    Hmmm, either its a dodgy one or there's something else causing it. It's running all the latest drivers so i wonder what it could be.

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

    The 100 looks good yes, I only went for the 300 because it only a little bit more.

    From the reviews I've read the AOC Monitor it should not lag at all in games, also the LG one only had DVI not HDMI like on the AOC.

    I want to buy from Novatech really, that way I can pick it up and not pay any postage and risk my stuff getting destroyed on their way to me.

    The postage from Scan is about £10 and that's another £10 on my system. They do have good deals though! :D

    You'd be better using DVI, unless you're wanting to plug say a console into the monitor too? You'll get a better resolution by NOT using the HDMI.

    I thought that the Intel Core i* 2***K had an unlocked multiplier at the expense of the gpu being enabled (thermal performance reasons).

    AOC Monitors are generally pretty poor. Might be worth looking at alternatives.
