What I really like about this mod is that despite being bright orange and having enough leds to shame an airport it all works , it all comes together to make something that is strangely subtle and very cool

Sleeved Tubing + UV??

Since Lamptron was so nice to give me some UV Cold Cathodes I figured I would see how everything looks.













I think it looks pretty good. I'm going to see how it looks with the blocks lit up and the fans on.

Very nice so far Fuganater. I know it's a bit late now since you have done all your lighting, but did you know that filing the top of an LED flat then sanding the whole outside can diffuse the light on most LEDs? I did this a while ago and it helps to stop the spot lighting you can get.

I used SMD LED strips so I don't think that would have worked. Unless your talking about the regular LEDs that are in my waterblocks?

 

Yup, regular 5mm or 3mm LEDs. With a flat top and a sanded outside you can often get the whole LED to glow rather than the spot of light you get with modern LEDs

 

Sorry for the double post but wanted to show what I mean. Both LEDs here are the same type from the same batch and I tried to take photos from the same distance and consistent lighting direction etc...



Standard 5mm LED



5mm LED sanded with 180 grit sandpaper so it has a consistent 'frosted glass' look to it and a flattened top.



Standard LED lit with 12V and appropriate resistor. You can see most of the light comes straight out the end.



Sanded LED with exact same power source and resistor. The entire thing lights up!!! Take your time, not like me, and you get an even better effect, great for illuminating panels or waterblocks etc.

UV + LED lighting

I connected the WB LEDs now and put power to the fans. Here are the results.

This first set of pictures are with 1 UV Cold Cathode running from front to back on the top of the case and one on the front panel running up and down.














Now these pictures are with both UV Cold Cathodes running the width of the case on the top panel. 1 in front and 1 in back. (That was really hard to explain lol)



















I still have a lot more work to do. Going to make the res LEDs tonight and try to figure out how I'm going to do all the switches for all the different lights.
