i always hate buying switches from maplins as with any shop now you can get it online cheaper

I used to just nick them from school or college because if they used one they would replace them with like a bag of 100 so you could steal loads and they would just replace them >

 

Rapid Electronics may be better than ebay for that resistor.

Personally mine is not having enough money for the little things I want Suppose it's not really Ruining my life as such but it would be nice.

 

Our T&D department in school had an educatinoal discount for Farnell, so our head technician who I was pretty friendly with got me loads of stuff at a discount right through 5th, lower and upper 6th year on the school account! I was getting stuff like SS Bulgin illuminated vandal switches (which were all the rage on case mods at the time) for about £5 each, and bulk bags of waterclear LEDs at less than 2p/unit

 

My teacher used to say when we happen to start are projects "Oh where it says about £20 for components ignore that i'll nick them from the cuboard for you"

They had walls of the stuff just constantly getting more in but never using it.... not shite either really fancy switches like bulgins and metal surface led holders instead of the crappy abs ones

been out shopping for parts to repair my monitor, there was more damage then first thought,

a 120 mic 450w smoothing cap leaked causing the short that killed the 22ohm resistor, it also took out the nearby IC as well,

the 450 should arrive soon and thn we'll see if this is repairable

2Tb Samsung drive just died in my server, 3 months old (at the most?!) Normally I'd buy a spare and then RMA this one, but prices are a little steep at the moment. Not a problem, but Samsung are in the process of combining with Seagate, so their RMA process is down until the 19th December. GRRRR

Someone fscking trashed my six years old GW account. Just got it back, will take weeks to fix the damage, if it can be at all.

 

Went to doctors 3 weeks ago on a Tuesday, she did some bloodwork and told me she'd have the results by that Thursday and if she didn't call everything was fine. That Friday she went on vacation for 2 weeks. When she came back she left a nice message on my answering machine saying my results were late.

Apparently the normal Erythrocyte sedimentation rate is 0-15 for males, mine was 108. What this means is I have lots of inflamation and possibly some sort of infection within my body. I also had something abnormal with my connective tissue and now my doctor has recommended me to a arthritis specialist. What makes this worse for me is 1) I'm only 20 2) I'm still having the neck pains and feet / knee issues that I've had since the beginning of September that have pretty much limitted me to just walking around and sitting. I can't really do anything physical.

The doctor left that message earlier this week, I called today to ask whats going on and she said once the recommendation has been passed to the specialist it's just a waiting game until the specialist feels like calling / setting up an appointment. If I do have arthritis I know it will be in my left hand. 2 of the fingers are swollen and in the mornings are very inflexible and hurt. I struggle to open water bottles (I am left handed).

To top this off, today my mom took the day off work so we decided to do some shopping, it seemed after every store my good foot that hasn't bothered me too much felt worse and worse. Go walk around a store for 40 minutes, sit in the van and drive for 10, get out and each consecutive store I limped more and more. It feels like my ankle is broken, it hurts to put weight on it / walk. My mom went and bought me an ankle support and some anti-inflamatories but so far nothing. I feel useless. There isn't much to do and now it seems everyone is pitying me because I limp around. I really hate this helpless feeling. I try to remain optimistic but it seems when something starts to improve, something else decides its going to hurt like hell and make everything worse.
