http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...iews/49646-amd-radeon-hd-7970-3gb-review.html wowzers, beast indeed. wheres bit-techs review?
Quick flick through the hardware sites, and only HardOCP has a review, so maybe AMD limited the reviews? Also google reveals no one stocking them in the UK...
Jaysus, the 7970 is out! That came out of nowhere! And it is fast! Looks like they learned from the mistake of the 6xxx series - having a cooler that's more friendly to multiple GPU set ups.
Well, looks to be 10-20% faster than a 580 while being 10-20w lower in power. Interesting, but not amazing... Doubly so for the cost, $500+...
payday is 30th, lets hope I can wait long enough to see if their will be any issues like intels sandybridge chipset.
Clearly they did! http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2011/12/22/amd-radeon-hd-7970-3gb-review/1
HardOCP review has now been pulled? Seems odd given all other big sites have it up. I assume they have noticed some issues and are addressing them. EDIT: Back up.
Still bet my 3 580gtx's will run faster, than 3 of those....(Without the micro shutter, that AMD/ATI cards have been prone to).
That's not really true. AMD has stormed ahead of Nvidia in the multi GPU department, the HD 69** cards crossfired scaled much better than GTX 570 and GTX 580 in multi gpu set-ups. If they have kept it up with the HD79** cards then they should absolutely destroy 3 x GTX 580
