What temps do you guys get? I've seen max of like 67 degrees at 1.35v.

No worries - I know I've got a little more room to maneuver, just need to flash the BIOS when I'm back in the UK and start tweaking again.

    Thanks

My current 24/7 OC is 4.7GHz @ 1.36v (1.38v at full Intel Burn test stress levels due to my LLC profile). My temps are around 81 degrees under full Intel Burn test load. That's with the H100. I reckon the NH-D14 would better that.

    H100 = waste of cash.

That's odd - as above under full IBT on the H100 I get max of 67ish on 1.35v @4.4Ghz. But then I have two extra fans on top. It can't make 14 degrees difference surely?

What CPU? I bet it's not a SB-E. I reckon no matter what temps you get with a H100, you can match with the Noctua. The Noctua is cheaper, and quieter. I could forgive the H100 if it was quiet, but with fans on full it sounds like a vacuum cleaner.

Yes but aren't you running a chiller of something Lysaer?

also if your @ 5.3Ghz you should try running geekbench, you might topple true_gamer from the top spot :D

Fancy running a geekbench test at that speed? I bet you'll take top slot.

We'll get our first 22K+ 32bit score, and our first 30K+64bit score then.

Sorry not posted back for a while, got bored of waiting for mods to approve my other posts :p

Never mind. Thanks for all the detailed replies.

So that's me decided. Corsair AX 1050W PSU, Sabertooth motherboard, a single Radeon 7970.

I'll go with the U2711 Dell monitor but will shop around for it as can be picked up for under £550.

In regards to the cooler, I'm going to have to do a bit more research and think on it as whilst a decent air cooler may be no better, the Corsair H80 may be quieter and less stress on the motherboard.

Don't plan any killer overclocks, its an expensive build so will have to last me a few years :p

Looking forward to starting my Project thread :D

Tbh all the H series are pretty crap in my opinion, good if your running a normal Sandy Bridge 1155 setup or tall ram, but for cooling especially on a 2011 system and from what Pookey said the H100 with its fans on full sounds like a hair dyer, and as for stress on the motherboard, I've had my NH-D14 (probably on of the largest and heaviest air coolers you can buy on my motherboard for around two months now with no problems, and there's also the fact that there's now a built in plate around the CPU socket to which you mount your cooler, so you get plenty of structural support.

Essentially what I'm trying to say is your better of going for an Air cooler like the Dark Rock Pro if you want to save a bit of money or the Dark Rock Advanced/Phanteks Cooler/NH-D14 if you want maximum cooling potential.

    Yep, 3930K.

IBT gives me a max of 69 sorry, an average of 63.5 across all cores.

If you check the OC3D review of the H100 - with STANDARD fans it beats the Noctua (just) on a really high overclock on a 990X I think. Now substitute 2 standard fans for 4 bequiet Shadow Wings and it makes my temps a little more believable.

depends how much voltage your pumping through the chip though, the Noctua's strong suit is when the volts really start to go up, like I said I can get roughly the same temps as pookey with about 0.1v more
