The new update is out for face book - timeline. so far you can use it by changing to it, what i dont like about it is the fact that everyone will have to go on it whether they want to or not. IMHO it is absolutly 'FLIPPING CRAP' (cleaned up for the forum). Also if you change to it and don't like it, you can't revert back. Shouldnt we be given a choice if we want to change opr not? what are you opinions on this also is it possible to creat a poll in general section as i cant seem to find it?
I wasn't too fussed on it, though i do now find myself warming to it. I opted in for it early so i could clean up any crap i posted years ago and now regret, because i knew it would be mandatory for everyone, it did irk me when i heard it was going to be mandatory, but as i said i have warmed to it now. i will say its a tad weird/creepy being able to see what you or any of your friends posted several years ago, hence my little tidy up.
I can remember when i forst started on facebook it was perfect then think it was in 2006 when it looked like this and to my knowledge it has changed (including time line) 3-4 times since then, it was so much better back then why can't that mark zuckerberg 'goon' just leave it alone. There is a saying, "If it ain't broke, dont fix it"
No. Once a new release is finished then everyone should be moved to it. Then when future changes are made they do not need to test the effects on lots of different interfaces.
Haha! Good spot! Facebook is not a public service so they can do what they want. If you don't like how it works then you will have to leave and find another option.
At first it looked chaotic, then I stopped giving a damn. I really use the whole fabo so little these days I just really don't care.
Mine hasn't changed either, and I mainly use facebook for groups/events or just the main feed or whatever it's called, rarely go on peoples profiles.
its not changed yet, but give it time as its going to change anyway wheter you like it or not thanks yodasarmpit for the poll its not the fact that i am affraid of change, its just the fact that i bloody hate it
Been using it for a couple of weeks now, and I like it. To be honest how often do people look at profiles anyway, in comparison to the news feed?
To be honest, I don't think it is that bad. If you were willing to click "See More" enough times, one could go back and see everyone's history, it was just a PITA. So if anything, it was more of a PITA to clean up stuff you regret airing 3 years ago so the majority did not bother. I switched to timeline and I am very glad I did, despite having a very closed profile and so on now, I really didn't view security and privacy as an issue 3 years ago. It gives you 7 days to clean up anything you want to get rid of, which is more than enough time. And then it just becomes another facebook upgrade which everyone will get used to within 3 weeks.
The only thing i really dont understand is the obsession to change things when they work. When the news feed first came in it was a little bit crap but they made some minor changes to it and it worked great. Then of course they came along and utterly ruined it with the more recent changes but we get used to it (only through no other choice). I have yet to see timeline but I doubt i'll enjoy it. I really liked using facebook during the earliest days (like the screenie t4ng0 posted) as it was useful for me, now it's only used for convenience really and is full of utter crap. How long before they start censoring everything on there and letting big corporations have a say in what can or can't be posted just like youtube?
Throbbi i'm with you on this 1 mate when it was like it was (like in the screenie) it was perfect. I have even sent messages to that zuckerberg 'prat' (voiving my opinion and not necesserely the views of others) but whats the bet i DON'T get any replys
Already switched to it, I rather like it. However I prefer the first UK incarnation of Facebook too, but they are a company, and as such have to monetise. The original layout didn't give them much scope for that hence the changes. I'm sure if you offered to fund them entirely they'd happily switch back...
