Hi all, as the new year passes im planning my big purchases during the year.

Current System is in my Sig, Looking at a GTX 560 Ti or 6870 purchase in the near future.

    3 Questions

    1) Is it overkill for my system? - Play alot of BF3 etc

    2) Best Brands to get ? I like the look of the MSI Geforce one http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/nvidiageforcegraphicscards/nvidiagtx560tifermiseries/MSI/N560GTX-TITWINFROZRIIOC.html#utm_source=google&utm_medium=base&utm_campaign=products

    3) Are prices likely to go down by much as more 2012 cards get announced?

    Thanks :)

    Playing on 1920 x 1200.
Its either a 560 or 6870 with a view to CF...

I'd get a 560ti then mate, msi is probably the best brand. If not the 6950 2GB is even an better choice, especially at full HD with the 2gb vram, but you're looking about a £200 price tag

    Would a single 6950 stop be wishing I got SLI'd 560 Ti's?

Sli 560ti's will deffo be better than a single 6950, but I've always gone for a single card only, not cf as you can get issues with games and micro stuttering, and I think BF3 has issues with CF, not 100% sure but I have read it before.

My 560 (non ti) performs wonderfully and runs BF3 very smoothly!

go for this one, one I got and from novatech also, excellent company and the card outperforms BF3, there are some issues with BF3 and Ti's but its mainly down to overclocking the cards, as BF3 likes a bit more voltage when core is increased. I say go for the twin frozr III one as listed above and you'll not go wrong, super easy to overclock and lots of head room

I've never had any problems with my Ti and BF3 apart from the screen flicker which everyone got and it's been fixed now anyway.

What is your budget? You can pick up a GTX 570 for under £300 runs 1920x1080 perfectly.

Its what Im using right now not OC'd no issues with BF3 50-60 fps

No offence, but that is a bad idea, you are paying through the nose for a few extra MHz.
You are better getting something with more VRAM.
I was researching what GPU to get for a good 2 months, and I was finally decided on the MSI R6950 Power Edition. I've not looked back once, I luckily managed to get one that unlocked the additional cores, and took some minor overclocking quite well.
When in game I have notice BF3 using anything from 1.2-1.5GB of VRAM and your Ti Hawk extra MHz are not going to help with it's 1GB VRAM limit

My budget is really sub £200 at the moment but if things come together in the next few weeks it could be more. Then Id consider a 570 because it meant only have to cool 1 card.

I just think for what I do I could get away with a 6870? Then in the future if I need more just get a second. can get 2 cards for ~£300

I have the same thinking about a 560 Ti but its the added price that is putting me off.
