What, no more custom GPU / CPU arrangements? The console industry has gone to pot... no truly creative minds left with those manufacturers anymore, clearly...

I found playing on Ultra with one GTX 580 in BF3 multiplayer unplayable (occasional frame rate drops below 40fps), which is why I went SLI. Tbh, if you think you can play BF3 on ultra with a GTX 560 Ti, you're only going to be in the single player. Multiplayer tends to be more demanding, but if you set everything to High you should be fine without HBAO and Anti-Aliasing deferred.

This. No matter which way you polish it, a 1gb 560 will not run BF3 on Ultra with AAD and HBAO enabled.

While Dave is right about the GTX 560 Ti 1GB struggling to play BF3 at ultra, it'll be just fine at High detail, 1920 x 1080 (so no AA).

Incidentally I've seen no difference between the 1GB or 2GB version of the GTX 560 Ti at 1,920 x 1,080 at ultra settings. It only requires more VRAM at ultra-high resolutions such as 2,560 x 1,600.

New GPUs inbound over the next few months though, so buyers beware!

hahah the best thing is i never mentioned that i will play bf3 hahah. I want to give it a try but i am more of a fan of lord of the rings online, killing floor, league of legends, etc. But yeah i might pop back and tell how it went down with bf3 when i finally get to play this game. I heard it's massively buggy on pc and i witnessed tons of bugs on my brother's ps3. Is that still true?

I seem to remember Dice announcing that you'd need 1.5GB to handle all that texture data at 1080p

This is what I said below, I merely quoted BF3 as it's the current benchmark that folks are interested in. BF3 is not the first game to trully stress modern gpus's (Metro 2033, Arkham, Crysis 1 & 2) and it/they won't be the last. Surely if you game at all you'd want the best GPU you can afford so you don't have to replace after 1 year because you can't play a game at it's best settings?

Although to be fair BF3 is about the only game that does make a 1GB 560TI struggle occasionally.

I think Metro 2033 would have worse performance tbh, especially the mine train bit.

do not worry i am not even going to play metro. I hate this game. Played it on xbox and the storyline + sound are tragic. Also Crysis 2 wasn't that great so i am just going to stick with the games i like. Thanks guys.

True, had forgotten about that. Although with metro it is pure graphical grunt that is needed.
