So it's time for my new pc, something EXTREME that can play games better than my laptop. What do you guys think about this buy?
I wouldn't go for that. Not in a lifetime. If you would specify what you would need the computer for, what your budget is and whether you need peripherals I am sure we could spec something for you at a fraction of that pc.
That is a ridiculous computer at an even more ridiculous price. A $600 budget would get you everything you'd need to thrash your laptop. And $2500 would buy you a PC with supreme performance, not discernably slower than the monstrosity you have linked. Spend the rest on a car/holiday/other item(s) of your choice. Happy days!
It's a nice looking build, extremely over the top of course but if someone wants an extreme PC and money is no object then that's a nice looking build. I used to chill my CPU to below zero with a peltier and water. A processor actually runs more efficiently just from subzero cooling alone even without the overclocking. "How does -14°C sound on the CPU cores on a six-core Intel processor running at 4.6GHz? You can now achieve record breaking performance by overclocking the processor to extreme levels while keeping the CPU rock solid stable at below 0°C temperatures." I would say 4.6ghz is rather pathetic for a subzero build but of course you could always take it higher yourself. http://www.digitalstormonline.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=16089 I wouldn't buy it though because it's not the best route to go for an EXTREME PC. Looking at the build, does it have a separate water loop for the triple SLI? One would hope so because taking a 6 core below zero using a peltier would require more than 300 watts of peltier which means 300 watts + of heat dumped into the coolant, in addition to the 100 watts+ of the CPU. So you may be looking at 450+ watts heat dumped into the coolant just from the CPU/Peltier alone. The GPU's would need their own water loop. That's still a lot of heat to get rid of which is being dumped in the room. For an EXTREME PC I would want all 3 GPU's chilled as well and the best option for that would be something that CHILLS the coolant. http://specialtech.co.uk/spshop/cus...HC500790-Watt-cooling-capacity-pid-12109.html This will chill your entire loop meaning more overclock on your GPU's. You'd be aiming for over 5ghz. Since that Digital Storm doesn't chill the GPU's I would say it's pretty much a waste of money. It looks great though but you could build something great looking with higher spec for less than that. £437 for a liquid chiller which gives you superior cooling.
Don't buy that, please don't. For that kind of monney you could buy yourself a extreme quad SLI setup with all the bells you would want.
I don't think Ratchet has any intention of buying this PC. He was being funny by picking out the most expensive PC he could find. The fact that we all took him seriously shows we're too trusting/retarded.
Kinda difficult to determine context from a forum post. Whether you read it one way or the other, both are just a roll of the dice. That's what smilies are for.
I'm with feathers on this one, think he's just trolling. Pretty sure he's made similar posts in the past aswell.
