Not so much of a problem really, the CPUTIN/Motherboard sensor in windows is not working properly and I haven't got to the bottom of it. (others have reported the same)

As I say, all it ever reads is 60c or 124c. In bios it's normal just in Windows does it do this. I've tried different monitoring software and they all say the same.

I have no ASUS software installed aside from drivers.

I do occasionally run at 5Ghz/1.45v for benchmarks and such but I am at 4.5Ghz/1.32v 99% of the time.

ah right, thought you meant problems other than the sensor issue. what temps do you get underload at 5ghz?

I haven't prime'd or burn tested @ 5Ghz since getting the dark rock with TY140 installed.
With the tranquillo it was in the 80s (I do suffer with well documented high ambient which didn't help)

Honestly I only clock that high for kamikaze bench runs, not interested one bit in running it day to day.

4.5 is perfect for me, hottest core gets to 67c in prime, 29 - 34c at idle depending on ambient.

Could be better perhaps but I'm happy with that :thumb:

4.8 hangs around 30-32 idle. Intelburn gets it up to 75 which iam uncomfortable with. prime gets it up to 65/67 which is fine for me because skyrim only gets it up to 60. Although when I was first exploring the board i had the voltage set to auto when i first went for 4.8 and it put 1.6v through it! after I dived for the power button and wiped my arse I managed to get it down to 1.38v stable.

 thanks for spraying tea over my K60!

Yeah I had fun with auto and offset too...

    1.38 for 4.8 is good going :)

to be honest Ive been using the wired xbox controller for Skyrim. Its designed to be used for it and changes the HUD and all the menus as if it was on the xbox if you know what I mean, its much better than using my bog standard microsoft keyboard/mouse

Skyrim puts some serious strain on my GPU, more so than most games. The CPU is fine, it's the GPU that contributes a lot of heat to my case.

It's fine at first but eventually the case can't dump the heat out fast enough, so I let it rest a bit when VRAM temps exceed 110c (normally after a couple of hours). Saying that, I'm using a tiny mini-ITX case with one case fan, but with a full sized PSU and GPU, so heat build up is a bigger concern than people using normal sized cases. AIDA64 with the all the temps showing on the system notification bar (in W7) is a good way to track all temps.
