I've always had a keyboard with a stepped key and I was used to having it there. I kind of rest my little finger half on the "a" key and half in the gap from the caps lock step. I do use the home key bumps as well but it helps me type. There was someone on geekhack or similar describing the same thing but I can't find it at the moment, he said he types like that because he got used to using the step to find WASD for gaming, which might well be why I do it as well.

Fair enough! I have found that ISO keyboards annoy the hell out of me now. I have been using ANSI mac laptops for about 4 years now and I now have an ANSI mechanical keyboard at work and home. The large enter key really annoys me!

What annoys you? The look? I think I probably need the large enter key; I tend to press either the centre or the top edge of the ISO enter key. Having "\" and "/" on opposite ends of the same row is much more intuitive for me as well.

I'm sure I'd put up with ANSI if I found something cheap ha.

No I repeatedly miss hit keys on ISO layouts now and ANSI does look much cleaner!

While I don't like the idea of ANSI (it being American) I've found myself using it completely now since you can't really get replacement keycaps for ISO :(

Also some boards (such as the poker) only come in ANSI, so I have no choice. I still use UK layout in windows though, which actually means I have no backslash :/

Naw the 1, was going to get the upgrade kit. I mean, it's $129 for hi res capabilities, I personally enjoyed the sound, I think it's a great value. Though I primarily use it as an actual DAC not a headphone amp.

You should be looking at Cherry boards with the H prefix...doubleshot caps are worth getting.

Well, yes the doubleshots are nice, but Cherry makes some damn nice pbt, which most older white/beige are, and pom which most older black are keycaps. The new ones are mostly abs and almost all the bigger than single keys are no longer fully MX compatible on G81/MY. You need to be careful with those if getting them for caps. No sane person is getting them for the boards, as MY switches are fairly terrible feeling. Technically they are still mechanical I suppose... but nasty.

I've got my finger hovering over the buy now button on a Filco Majestouch Tenkeyless with brown switches, I just can't make my mind up whether or not to go for it, or just cheap out and go for a Tt Meka or a SteelSeries 6GV2... ARGHHHHH!!!!! £120 is mental for a keyboard, make me buy it BitTech!! :worried::lol:

I'm literally in the exact same boat.

Like how much better is the Filco over the cheapy gamerish TT Meka etc.

Thermaltake Meka G1 Same as Mionix, WASD, some others... good quality, made by costar just like the Filco. But, you have only choice of mx black switch. the other Thermaltakes are I think made elsewhere, and have terrible non standard layout. Forget replace keycaps easy.
Filco do look nicer sleeker, use standard layout, and have choice in switch.

Some people are perfectly within their rights to be incorrect and choose ISO :)
