Cooling Be Quiet Dark Rock Advanced - alternative?

Hi, Scan are currently waiting on more stock of the Dark Rock Adv cooler.

What is the best alternative for the same price, or should i wait for it to be back in stock?

Not going to overclock my i5 2500k straight away or excessively (first time ) so no great rush i suppose.

It's overdue by 12 days. Email scan and ask if they have any indication when it's in. It can't be long now surely.

 

They have emailed me saying they don't have a date for new stock.

This is holding up my order of my new build, so was wondering what to do?

 

If your not going to overclock, why not just go for the Gelid Tranquillo? Its quiet, cheap and will happily tame the heat at stock and even a mild overclock.

If you plan on pushing your CPU in the future to beyond 4GHz then the Dark Rock would be good, but if not......

 

+1 on the tranquillo, excellent cooler and great price.

 

Tranquillo is cheaper. How hard were u going to push that 2500k? If you aren't that bothered, I'd get one of those. Rememberthough, the moment you start, you often can't stop. Lol.

 

If you can accommodate its size the Thermalright HR-02 Macho is a superb performer.

Thanks everyone for your replies, I have cancelled the Dark Rock for now, will go with the stock Intel until I overclock (read that as when I know more - virgin OC'er )

Appreciate your input, giving me more insight for when I do upgrade.

 

Mild overclock? Mine was happily keeping my 2500k cool even at 1.45V suicide runs, let alone 1.35V for an everyday 4.8GHz overclock. Fantastic cooler for the price.

 

To be fair, that's probably the case.

 

I know she can perform, but bearing in mind the op is a beginner I didnt want to recommend pushing it. Both you and me know what were doing and limits to work within.

I'm glad to see the OP went with common sense in the end... if you aren't overclocking immediately then there is no need for anything more exciting than the included intel cooler. There is no real benefit to buying more serious cooling until you plan to OC! Might as well save the cash until the dark rock is available!
