Each to their own I suppose. My company has private plates on all its trucks. Bale Group, and here's some samples of their's; T8 ALE P13 ALE T88 ALE WR08 ALE I can't see anything wrong with that... Here's mine which has meaning... W12 SLM W = 'Willy waver'. 12 = The date me and my partner met nearly 10 years ago. SLM = My initials. Oh, and its on a common Audi A5, which I'm the only '1' in my town that own's one... EDIT, I just re-read your post, and can understand where you are coming from. One of my friends about 10yrs ago now, had a private plate on his Ford KA. W 8UTT, he soon got pulled over and had to address his plate to what was on his Log book... W8 UTT.
My problem is you have to illegally alter the spacing... so you no doubt have "T 8ALE" instead of how it's meant to be... or with P13 ALE, you must have had to bunch up the 1 and 3 so close to make it look like a B. Like you said, each to their own, but I just don't get it. It's not a private plate... it's just T8 ALE with the spacing changed. If I could afford it, having DAV 1D would be OK, as even with the correct spacing, it clearly looks like DAVID. However, I'd not pay that much for a plate even if I was a multi-millionaire... on principle. You see... that's fine. Just a plate. No need to mess with it, or trying to make words out of random letters and number by changing the spacing, or using coloured screw heads... just a plate. I'm actually considering GT56 BAD for the Mustang. It's not trying to spell my name, doesn't need it's spacing changed... it's just saying it's a 2006 GT (which it is, so no trying to hide it's age), and it's bad ass. ... but it's just a plate in the standard format it's meant to have. Seriously though... it's just a number, and I just can't see where the "status" is in owning one. Most of the time, I see these plates, and have no idea what they're trying to say anyway. They've just spent £500 to confuse me for a few seconds at a red light.
Definitely +1 My Dad used to have his initials on a custom numberplate - but unless you knew that his initials were KEF, you wouldn't know that it was a custom plate...which to me is just a waste of money
I see where you are coming from. I bought my Plate, as it will go from one vehicle to the next. So for the £405 I paid (Which includes the £80 transfer fees) I've not wasted that money. Now for your Plate, you would be limiting it to a 'GT' car that has to be 'Bad ass' so in effect it would be a waste of money. I bought my plate for life, and so it will always be mine and yet with plates, they hold their value. Another way to look at this, is if someone own's a W12 engine, then my plate could triple its value, if someone was so desperate to want it... (Hopefully I may have the joy's of owning such a engine...) Also from dropping the characters from 7 to 6... It makes it more clearer that it is a private plate. My company had put 'WR08 ALE' on a 61 Reg truck, now to most people, they will think it's a 08 reg truck, so in effect, the private plate is defeating the objective.
BTW IHA - FSB DVB IMF DLR MDK WTF IHA - I Hate Acronyms ........except for the ones that I know - which is about 2.4% of them. I also hate meaningless statistics.

I can have them! seen a guy squatting up and down out of control like he was practicing for brokeback mountain 2 I had to switch spotters and move, it was getting ridiculous.. most girls who can do a pullup have arms with 2 chipmonks underneath.. if you want to see chicks with a lot of tatoos, then the strip club is where it's at.. I've never been in a male strip club.. but from what I hear- there's a lot of guys with fake mustaches
